one of my favs too.

I go through phases with IPAs. Sometimes they are too hoppy and the taste and bitterness will bug the back of my throat and stuff when I try to sleep. I've heard something about hop allergies. I wonder if I have such a thing.

When I drink them on a regular basis they don't bother me this way. I just got back from Mexico though, and after drinking non hoppy beers for a while, I find IPA bothers me again. I dunno...

What's an IPA? I was tempted to make a joke about the International Phonetic Alphabet, but decided to preserve whatever meagre amount of street cred I have instead.

India pale ale. It's a very hoppy beer. It was originally made with so much hops because the hops act as a natural preservative for beer being shipped all the way to the British colony in India.

Samuel Smith makes an excellent IPA. (They also make a good nut brown ale, oatmeal stout, etc. etc.)

As in beer that tastes/smells like weed. Not made with weed.

Some varieties of hops, particularly Columbus and Nugget have a particularly 'dank' aroma they lend to brews.

A good IIPA will have upwards of 8 oz of hops per 5 gallons. That'd be one expensive brew if you used your special ingredient.
