Agreed, I like their Barley Wine as well.
Caldera IPA is also pretty decent, best IPA in a can I've ever tasted.

I love both the 60 and 90. 60 is in the picture and the one I get the most. 90 is more expensive and stroooong so it's more for celebrating. Haven't gotten to try the 120 yet.

IPA's I like: (In no particular order(Sure I'm forgetting a few))
Lagunitas - Day Time IPA Dogfish Head - 60 Minute IPA Dogfish Head - 61 Minute IPA with Syrah Grape Must (My favorite) Dogfish Head - 90 Minute IPA Stone - Cali-Belgi IPA Stone - Cali-Belgi IPA aged in Red Wine Barrels Stone - Delicious IPA Stone - Ruination IPA Stone - Ruinten IPA New Belgium - Rampant IPA Odells - Elephant IPA Odells - Mercenary Odells - Mercenario (Tequila barrel aged Mercenary) Odells - Tree Shaker (Peach IPA) Great Divide - Titan IPA
There, 15's a nice number; I'd better stop before I list every IPA I've had...

Lil Sumpin' is most definitely an IPA. It uses wheat for body, but it has a bigger dry hop than Lagunitas flagship IPA. So, could call it an india pale wheat ale, but that would be a subtype of IPA. No roasted malt (what gives stouts their flavor) whatsoever, so based on your analogy I think you may be thinking of a different beer.
Extra's back now, landed here just over a month ago and is presumably just about everywhere by now.
Also have been really enjoying the new Ruination. Think I liked the original better, but fortunately they released the recipe a long time ago.
We've talked quite a bit about IPA's before, so I'll spare you a long list

Lil' Sumpin' is very delisious, but it's a Pale Wheat not an IPA.

What did you like about the first version Dustbunny?
I diffidently say I like the 2.0 better then the first version, I find that the hop-busting is a little subtler on the 2.0 allowing you to pick up on the citrus and floral notes a lot easier. But most of my friends seemed to like the first one better.

I had some Goose IPA the other day. It wasn't bad. I really like Back in Black which is a black IPA from 21st Amendment Brewery. One of my favorite beers though is Magic Hat #9. They call it almost an IPA. I'm not sure what that means, but it is delicious. God, I love beer.

It is a pale wheat, and it's an IPA too. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/lagunitas-a-little-sumpin-sumpin-ale/103006/ .
Quote:
Way smooth and silky with a nice wheaty-esque-ish-ness. Just the little sumpin’ sumpin’ we all need to kick Summer into full swing! Ingredients: Hops, Malt, Hops, Hops, Yeast, Hops, Water, and Hops.
Based on that ordering, they are saying that it has a lot of late hop additions (adding aroma) and is dry hopped twice. Similarly, Sumpin' Wild! is a Belgian/Wild IPA and Sumpin Extra an imperial IPA. Personally, I might call them all pales (Wild a Belgian pale), because I like the minimalist approach.
Stone IPA was one of my first favorite IPAs and I could never get tired of it; I am definitely partial to old school resinous piney IPAs over contemporary fruit cocktail IPAs. Obviously I'm not knocking those either, what with the Lil Sumpin's and Ruination 2.0 and all

Fun fact for all you Hop-heads out there; the human tongue can not discern the different between anything above 75 IBU.

Here's an idea for a party for you beer lovers. Tell all your guests to bring a six pack or so of beer that they don't think most others have tried. Then, when everybody gets there, everyone shares and tries the other guests' beers. I've tried tons of different beers this way.

Most tongues might only be able to discern*. We most definitely gain tolerance to bitterness. Firestone Walker's (Who brew possibly my favorite year-round IPAs) head brewer on how beer has changed in the last 10 years (at the time)- "Our Lupulin threshold has shifted"
Also, IBU while an indicator of how much lupulin a beer contains is not the only aspect determining bitterness. The astringency of alcohol, richness of malt flavors, and bright dry hop flavors (which don't add bitterness) can/will totally hide bitterness. For this reason many find the 4-5%, 40-50 IBU session IPAs to drink much more bitter and resinous than an 8-9% IPA, and a 6-7% to a lesser extent. A hops flavor can make a big difference, too- Chinook (Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard) is downright offensive to a lot of people, its pineyness seems very sharp and woodsy.

I am currently drinking my favorite bottled IPA, Deschutes Inversion.
The best one I have ever had though was Amnesia Desolation, an unfiltered IPA which is only available in kegs (last I checked anyway). Every place here (PDX) has an IPA on tap so I often don't even check which one, but just order "pint of IPA" when out. I loves 'em all.

I'm really liking their new "Pine Drops" Exactly as advertised, super piney and resinous with little-no bright flavors. Reminds me a lot of the wet cascades used in their old hop harvest beer "Hop Trip".

Decent "argument", but one IPA is roughly equal, in my opinion, to 2 domestic beers. At least in terms of my intoxication.

Stone obviously make's a great IPA's. I like their enjoy by selections when they come out. I got a free mug when a rep came into our local place. Forgot this was IPA's but whatever I threw in one.
Mudshark Brewery Arizona.. no lie a 6 pack of their Full Moon(Belgian Style White Ale) will black you out.. well does to me and all my friends. It taste so good too you wouldn't know it was like 8.6%
Pranqster (Belgian Style Golden Ale) North Coast Brewing - This is my go to at mellow mushroom. I describe the taste as the same taste as water run off from a gutter filled to the rim with leaves. idk but I like it and so do a lot of others.
Torrey Pines IPA Left Coast Brewing Company = from our local place and I guess other places. Super fucking hoppy so it's bitter. Literally gets your head tingling from the hops. One of my favorites and awesome after blazing.
Those are my loves right there.

I don't know I think they just got popular. My friends visited the brewery and did a tour and periscoped the whole thing to me. It was pretty funny the tour guide lady had a massive beer belly and was just funny looking. I guess they are expanding rapidly. I can care less about their popular shit but the enjoy by selections are always limited editions so they usually take on a different taste then the traditional store bought stone.

Totally different hop profiles between their different IPAs. If you can't taste it, you can't taste it, but I might hold off on the judgement until you are a little more acclimated with real beer Koch and Steele know what they're doing.
Beer going on sale is usually a bad sign, most especially IPA's. Virtually all styles are meant to be consumed fresh, and if they're on sale they're probably days away from their (usually too long) expiration date. All that said, I don't see why you shouldn't take advantage of the sales if the beer tastes good to you, but you probably shouldn't judge a new beer if you bought it on sale. Especially down the road once your tongue and lupulin threshold adjusts.
You said you hadn't tried Arrogant Bastard just a few days ago?
