Honestly, you might be right. The volume seems to drop off right as he is finishing the words before he throws the mic.

his concerts were better 6 years ago then now IMO.  they just don't put the money into the shows anymore like they used too.  but the tapestries they hand in the background are sick as fuck


I've seen them 6 times, and I have to disagree with you on this.  They put way more money into the recent tour than they ever have before, as far as sets are concerned.  That big panoramic screen cost a butt load, not to mention the Alex Grey backdrops and lasers.

they always had the alex grey back drops.  that's why i was referring to the tapestries.  the last concert i saw them at was about 2 years ago and they didn't even have screens.  the first one i went too they had huge black and white balls from one of his video rolling around.  a screen set up like from the movie "Password Swordfish".

don't get me wrong, I love Tool.  Its is insanely relaxing to me.  Its also nice to know that someone has so much heart in their music like maynard does.

i remember this interview.  He says that's why he doesn't move around much and stage and looks autistic when he sings.  because he has so much emotion when singing, he looses most function to do other things such as rock out and bounce around. 

A lot of times he has a stage the spins him around so he can just stand their while he sings.

He also has complained that the flashes from peoples' cameras can be particularly irritating because it makes him sneeze, which is why he often performs with his back to the crowd.

As for the original clip, it might be that the mic is messed up; I didn't hear a loud crashing sound when it hit the ground.

You're talking about this big balloon thing they made to look like the blob from Parabol/Parabola.  That was the Lateralus tour, and they did have a good set with lots of screens up.

I saw them at Coachella another time, and they must have had tens of dollars invested in the stage production, because all they had were screens
