Subwoofer Couch - What is the best method of vibration dampening?

I want to install a small subwoofer under my couch for movies, games and music so I FEEL the bass. There are expensive commercial products that do this same thing. The problem is I'm on the 2nd floor and people live right below me. What would be the best way to dampen the vibration.

Layers of cork and rubber under the legs of the couch maybe? Or a gel of some sort? Maybe some layers of memory foam?

I would use the vibration stuff they use on cars.  Don't cheap out on it either, the cost difference isnt that great and it makes a HUGE difference.  I ripped a bunch out of my car to reduce the weight, unfortunately i dont have it anymore otherwise i'd just ship it to you. 

But, i'd use that

That's applied over a large area to absorb acoustic energy and convert it into heat. I'm looking for something to place under the feet of the couch to stop the vibration to travel through the foundation. Thanks for the input though!

a little bit of rubber if you're just worried about the couch vibration... uhm the subwoofer will still vibrate your floor.  I say go for a tacticle inducer.  should be about the same cost of a sub low enough that you'd put it in a couch...

stack it up or something.  I'm yet to find anything to dampen that well.  And, why not extend the base of the feet of the couch?  That would also help

Check these out. They don't actually make sound, but they make the vibration. You could put one in conjunction with a real sub so you wouldn't wake the neighbors. Although, it may vibrate the floor and transmit noise more. I'd put some sort of rubber underneath the couch feet no matter which way you went.

for a temporary fix try a mouse pad cut into quarters, if you can, try and
find a high density neoprene, it'll be difficult to cut with a utility
knife  so be very careful

Making the feet wider with a hard material, then putting a good absorbtion material under it is a really good idea. It would transfer the vibration better I would think.

I was actually talking about creating my own transducer by modifying a subwoofer, and your right about low frequencies traveling through solid surfaces much more efficiently.

just fyi, in case its of any use

subwoofer sound travels in all directions, not just the direction the speaker is facing

Ya that is true, unless you put it in the corner of a room. That usually amplifies it quite a bit, idk if it is actually vibrating the room a little and amplifying it, or it's just the corner shape that spreads the sound differently, idk.
