2.5 cubic feet..is the volume of your box after you subtract the subwoofer and port displacement. It's the "net volume" or usable airspace the driver will see.
Tuning is determined by three factors that are all relevant to each other. If you change one, the tuning is changed. Those are Enclosure Volume, Port area, and Port length.
A port can be a round tube, or a square or rectangle slot (like in my car) The port area is how large the opening of the port is. For example, my box has 150" of port area. that is 25" by 6" rectangle hole you see. The length of the port is how far it extends into the enclosure. The longer the port, the lower the tuning.
If you're a total noob, you may be better off to just have someone build a box for you. For that i would contact Woodlawn cabinetry, they are the best at what they do

Niiice enesi..glad to see more RE fans out there. My last setup was a RE XXX 15' and an Orion 1200d amp. I know it wasnt recieving much power but DAMN that thing was a monster. I had it ported at 48 hz for comps and 30ish for daily driving. It was a monster. I was doin mid 140s on the new termlab...and prolly a coupld db higher on the other looser mics. But again..props for using such a great company

uh... if i wanted to buy subwoofers for a small bar or club, how do i do that.
i looked around on the internet and for some reason i just couldn't figure out it...
i'm not dumb, but i really have no clue. i've seen the small box ones at parties, and i've seen the ones the size of refridgerators.
i've read alot, but i need info on those very large subs in particular, can someone link me?

Yep..do all my own work
Components are DLS amps are orion 2500d's (one for each sub) Power is an excessive amperage 200amp alt, two yellowtops (haven't added the new batts yet, got 6 going in) and lots of 1/0 wire!
hit a 153.2 on the Termlab, down in the passenger kickpanel. Cool thing is, the wall is tuned to around 28hz...so it gets VERY loud at low freq's, lol
153 w/ a 28Hz tune...
I can't imagine what you'd hit with say, at 40Hz+ tune.

heh, yea, my car was built for daily music...If i tuned it for spl i'm sure i would be 155+ easily. My car peaks around 48-49hz usually.

hmm all this talk about IDMAX tempts me to try them out,My 12" alpine type R is good but I'm sure theres better ones. Also I need to replace my front factory speakers It sucks having a sub with crappy speakers!
I was thinking of getting the Alpine Type-X SPX-177R 6.5 Inch 2-Way Component Speakers with a 2 channel cadence amp producing 300w x 2,eh eh?

1ohm stable or 2 ohm stable bridged I believe.
Its 4 channel, I run 200 each to my front DLS components then bridge the rear set into a 400x1@4ohm channel.
Little underpowered for the IDMAX, but I always go for SQ over SPL and you need very little bass overall for a completely flat EQ'd system.
