it should work fine. what you need to concentrate on is matching the space capabilities (in cubic feet) to the space you plan on using it in. that will then truly answer your question.

hijaaking this thread: anybody got any good links to HEPA filters (not just the filter but a functioning unit) that are designed to operate in a 100% humidity environment?

i'm not sure if this one will work after looking at similar models they pull air in though the big mesh screen and blow it out a small one on the top. does any one have any links for hepa filters that i can put in a home made unit

are you wanting a self-contained unit or just the filter to build something like a flowhood? pretty much any model by Holmes, Kenwood, Bionaire, etc. will work. The biggest factor is how much area it is designed to filter. I get all my HEPAs off eBay. Don't go used unless you are certain that it hasn't been used very much at all. Most of the eBay models are factory reconditioned with new filters. if your wanting to make your own then your gonna have to get a blower to match up with your filter. here's a great chance to learn how to use the shroomery's search feature. these keywords will get you there: "blower" "cfm" "flowhood" "hepa" . in fact, there are realatively detailed plans for buidling one with pics.

You can probably get a better deal elsewhere. Brookstone is a trendy company, they'll overcharge any chance they get, search google, you'll find cheaper ones. As for one to put inside a setup, I know there's a company that makes, "personal air-filters" which are designed to wear around your neck. They're expensive, but easily small enough to put inside your chamber. Once again, search google.
