keep in mind they 'over rate' them and that the room they are talking about is sealed....no vents...tape them over or use a walk in closet....in a standard room those things are not very effective...but it can work as a make shift flow hood if it vents out the front

I agree with P#1 on those inexpensive table top hepa's.

Most of the filters in the inexpensive ones are 1 - overrated & 2 - not sealed into the case well.

Meaning, if they are not a tight rubber gasket type seal to seal fit, they allow particulates to bypass the filter. If one or 2% of the air flow bypass's the filter, it is NOT hepa grade (even if it says it is).

But, you can seal it (the filter in) -- yourself -- with good old duct tape, to resolve that kink.

Nor do they have a laminar flow of air out of the filter. Meaning, the air flowing out creates a vortex, which draws unfiltered air into the flow, at the filters face.

You can resolve that by cutting the end of a LARGE clear plastic bag (so it is open on both ends), then tightly tape on end of the bag around the filter outlet area.

Then, when it is on, work inside of the bag.

Here is the 24 X 24 X 12 hepa filter my foaf is constructing a new flow hood with.

6T
