Hey! College Students. . .
    #13359364 -

You are obtaining a college degree so that you can earn a lot of green pieces of paper that can be taken to a supermarket and exchanged for food that has been injected with artificial growth hormones by strange men wearing lab coats - or rent you a plot of land with a 2 story shelter on it that you will refer to as 'your home' until the day you die when it becomes just a 'house' again because you can never really "own" anything, can you? - A crinkled, germ infested piece of paper with some numbers and a dead guys face on it can ensure that electricity will be pumped into "your home" through a dozen high voltage cables to power your amazing clothes washing machine and your moving-picture-with-sound-box. . .

‎. . .while every other animal on the planet somehow lives without institutions, mutated produce, motor vehicles, paved streets, firearms and fluorescent light bulbs - has no need for lawsuits, dress codes, hair salons, escalators, or happy meals - and refrains from polluting perfectly balanced, natural ecosystems with noxious gasses and toxic wastes.

It's not just that annoying, irrelevant math class that is a complete waste of your time, the human condition itself is completely irrational. You are wasted time. I'd say do your pointless homework to earn your pointless degree to succeed in our pointless society. Our species is destined to destroy this planet and every stupid science project counts.

Let's hurry up and finish off the celestial body we are currently infecting before we start spreading ourselves around the universe like a virus.

Meanwhile, I'll be :awecid: and very :feelsgoodman:

You're hating on us because we don't wanna be like you?

For most of us, it's about more than the money. Some of us enjoy LEARNING and intend to be more than a internet trolling goon like yourself.

Some of us just, like, to, learn, how, to, use, commas, unlike, you.

Hum.

Not sure I love your post.

I'm going into research in psychopharmacology after I finish my bachelor in chemistry, and I do it because I love this and it is not all all a waste of time for me. Without people like me, you would die from a cold or any other disease and you would not have all your beloved drugs made by people in lab.

And without people like us that can make society advance with our knowledge and research, you would not even have a computer working in front of you, not even an electronic watch or an Ipod.

What you are saying is not really thoughtful

Anyway.

Maybe I'm going to far but hey, people that find themselves "cool" because they touch their ass doing nothing kind of piss me off, sorry

Edit: And yes, I love to LEARN, I learn each day and I don't know what could be more satisfying than this.

Brian Cox - "[One] problem with today’s world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion AND have others listen to it. The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense."

I go to college to learn. I don't give a fuck about making money. College is kick ass anyway, you get to read great books and talk about them. I look forward to every class.

Im not in college to make money at all.   Which is good, because I doubt it will ever yield me a high paying job.

The personal enrichment and nurturing of my intellect has been great though, no matter what happens after college - Im glad I went.

If you think college somehow separates those who are part of the rat race from those who are not you are very mistaken.

Anything we do can be overly-simplified or given meaning that isn't there. What's important to me is that I enjoy myself day-in and day-out as much as possible. I'll let you worry about how foolish I'm being and I'll worry about how happy I am with myself.

so are you saying you're better than folks who are in college because you reject our society?

thats some bizaare logic. if everything is so pointless then why do you care if we want to get an education that allows us to make the money we need to function in society?

if you're so  :awecid:  then why do you feel the need to tell us the way we're living is wrong?

Today's lesson:
Don't pick an argument with people who are more educated than you!

Wait.. you're bitching about money providing us with electricity?
You just posted on the internet you SOB. Without those pieces of paper where would you be? Talking to your fucking self you conformist.

Without people more educated than yourself the internet would not even exist.
Thank education that everyone isn't as retarded as you sir.

1. Not hating on you, I'm encouraging you. "I'd say do your pointless homework to earn your pointless degree to succeed in our pointless society. Our species is destined to destroy this planet and every stupid science project counts."

All things must die, and that includes planet earth. Earth caught the human disease and now it is very, if not terminally ill. Let's finish the job before we become contagious.

2. I also enjoy learning. Are you suggesting that it is impossible to learn things outside of a state-run educational institution? I'm not trolling, just trying to start an intellectual discussion.

3. Grammar/punctuation is just as useless as any other man-made concept or device. Clearly you understood what I was saying. . .

i'm going to college because i want to be a teacher and i need some form of degree to get any desirable teaching job, no matter what age group. also, through class selection and effort on my own part, i have learnt a tremendous amount from my college courses. edit: as another poster reminded me, also, many of the classes i have taken have been absolutely fascinating. over the years i've taken courses on indigenous spirituality, evolutionary psychology, and astronomy/cosmology, alongside courses such as as Voice and auto mechanics that have helped me develop my own skills.

if i earn a bigger paycheck along the way, that's a benefit, but not what initiated my attendance.

the way i look at it is like this: you wanna go to college? cool, do so.
you don't wanna go to college? cool, do so.

either way, make something of yourself or you've wasted your time.

the moral of the story is, learning is an internal drive. if you can find a way to unleash in an educational institution, count your blessings. if you can't, there's nothing stopping you from greatness except you.

An hour with a master can be worth hundreds of hours behind a book.  There are things that you can learn in college that would be very hard, if not impossible, to learn otherwise.

Actually, I'm going to school so that I can learn more about what fascinates me (the brain - I'm majoring in cognitive neurochemistry) and be part of the psychedelic revolution that is slowly coming back to life. Also, I'll buy whatever goddamn food I like, thanks. Have fun making healthy organic food appear out of thin air.
