Blue Shrooms

When a damaged mushroom gets blue, does it mean that its hallucinogenic or could it mean other things aswell??? :confused:

it could be other things, like a boleta or an indigo. what does this shroom look like?

It was orange and pink and silver and half a meter tall, I was running in the forrest and fell on this shroom, then it turned blue... can I get high on it?

No, I personally havent found anything like this, but my friend found a shroom that appearantly turned blue upon damage. It was yellow and orange and looked like a liberty cap in shape, but a little thicker and a little taller.

Please read the FAQ and post a more detailed description. We need to know more to help you identify your friend's mushroom.

Blue staining is an indicator of some of the psilocybin-containing species of mushroom. But there are other mushrooms which stain blue where the bruising indicates that the mushroom is poisonous and will make you ill if you eat it. So we need to know more to help you.

You most certainly cannot get high off of it. From the description is sounds like Boletus Zerelli, which is edible, but I would not recommend frying it up without a definate ID.

half a meter tall, that sounds much too large for a zeller's bolette to me.

[s/he] said "fell on]/i]" on suggesting [s/he] landed on it, not that it was the mushroom wich caused [hime/her] to fall.
anyway, the ultimate question is, did it have gills, or pores?
many boletes can get quite large, though i think half a meter may be an exageration.

Wow! Thats the most beautiful shroom I've ever seen! Running in the forest falling on a shroom which is half a meter tall with those colors was a joke, obviously a bad one! Ummm... the shroom I'm talking about looked like a Liberty Cap with a bit thicker stem, a bit longer than the liberty cap and it had whit gills.

Here is a picture of a Boletus that turned blue and has no Hallucinogenic properties at all.



I found this mushroom last week in a small rainforest gulley.

Check out the small Boletus growing in the bottom left of the stem......
