My Friend IS Going Into Back Surgery
    #13271960 -

OK this is starting to freak me out. It started off he hurt is back lifting something and then later he had some back pain for awhile I think mixed with some leg pain. He still went along with things and then decided to see a doctor. He was coping on his own for about 6 months before seeing a doctor.

After seeing a doctor he started getting steroid injections and pain medication. His leg started swelling up. Then he couldn't urinate and he started taking other medication to make it so that he can piss. Then his back started hurting worse and now they are telling him he needs surgery for it.

OK it seems like the doctors are just making stuff worse. They claim he has a slipped disk. DOes anyone know anything about any of this stuff?

Thinking about back surgery it just seems so gross and disgusting. I worry the surgery could make things worse. I recommended he do some mild stretching exercises to cope. I wonder what affect the pain meds are having on him too. He seemed to be coping a lot better prior to seeing the doctor.

He got progressively waorse after seeing a doctor,

You're going to say "Yeah, but you give a mushroom for everything!"

But
1) A medical study once demonstrated that here seemed to be more of a need for people to have surgery in places where there were more surgeons.....
2) I am willing to do anything to keep someone from it because I have never seen people much benefit from it. I mean I have, but it is more like your friend's tale and they are now having a lot more damage and scar tissue than they did.
3) I do not trust or much like doctors

But - br. Todd had slipped a disk and coped, though miserably, for months. He was coming here, but before he did he could not resist to trip so I said "Do your exercises, carefully, while you are tripping"
He swears to this day that the trip fixed him and he does concrete work - 8 months later, still doing fine.

I told him that I thought it was possible that the psybes knocked out the pain and gaurding enough to allow the disk to reduce on it's own.

See? I knew you were going to say "Yeah, but you give a mushroom for everything"
But I do think your friend is being led to surgery and milked. He must have good insurance or there would not be talk of back surgery I don't think.
But now, I will recommend a try with psybe therapy for this as long as I can count on the person to be careful with their body and keep me posted as they go along.

Its possible that the mushrooms fixed that guy or its possible that the mushrooms helped him get in touch with his body so that he moved in ways that fixed his body.

I know that mushrooms arent for everyone. I might suggest that he give them a try though. He is against taking drugs(but I mean he is taking the steroids and pain meds the doctors have given him so he doesnt seem to be sticking to his antidrug thing).

Thanks for the suggestion by the way. Do you knwo what sort of exercises he was doing? Its an amazing story actually.

if your friend can't urinate he's got some serious problems.

advise him to stay away from stimulants.. coffee, thc, sugar, peppers, and sometimes even meat. it can cause the nervous system to go haywire. imagine having shock like pain and uncontrollable spasms all through out every inch of your body.

he might be out of the game for a while, the best thing for you to do is to be there and help your friend through this.

bless-

The exercises were all passive extension/flexion - just sitting and standing bending forward and back up. I am not sure about the physical therapy one's as they get very specific with each individual.
PT used to ba a place yousent your patient to see if enough stupid abuse and pain made them get better - now they are pretty top notch advisors and I am no way qualified in that area like they are. PT has gone leaps and bounds forward in the last 20 years.

But yes, they were simple and non-challenging. More about just moving normally to his limits than "pain for gain" approach.

Even if if does not give him much therapeutic result, the pain and inflammation will be affected. LOW DOSE - 1.5-3gm depending on who he is and if he does not use rec drugs or trip I would think more like 1-2 tops.

He clearly has some nerve involvement with the radiant pain and limb effect.

physical therapy is helpful but it can get stressful dealing with the therapists everyday. he might find long walks easier to deal with. the walking will strengthen his back muscles and will help remove some pressure from his spinal column.

i'm not sure if shrooms are the way to go on this. i can't imagine what it must be like to trip and to have paresthesias running through your body. i guess shrooms might be something to look into but i'd be very careful as the experience might cause him to get depressed with himself or scared of what his body is doing. you might find that doing shrooms might help him become more motivated to get out and exercise.

i know i said not to do THC but i'd like to add that even though THC might stimulate more pain, it might also help him forget about the pain, it is hard to explain but sometimes more pain is a good thing as the brain will eventually stop sending pain signals out or will override itself and ignore the pain signals even though they are still there.

a good drug cocktail would be (Klonopin + Talwin NX + T.H.C.)
Klonopin helps with the spasms and stress
Talwin NX is a synthetic morphine
T.H.C. fucks you up.

Thanks for all the advice everyone I appreciate it. He also sleeps and sits on a futon and whenever I sat on the futon when it was used as a couch my lower back hurt from the way it was shaped and so I suspect this whole thing ay just be the result of bad posture.
