Signing in here,

Had 15mm at one point (for around 9 months), took them out, closed up completely.

6 years later I still have this constant cyst/scab/ball of random, the size of a tic tac in my earlobe  It looks like a red dot from the outside, on the inside it feels terrible and I wish it would FOAD.

So yeah, I regret it  It is fun to pick at though, when you bust it pus flows out

Every new person I meet (or employer) thinks it's some type of ear-ring hole, it's noticeable.

I've had 9/16ths of inch completely close. I don't think much bigger would end up returning to its normal size though.

Mine are 100% closed, they just have a little dot there.

3-4 times a year something grows inside like an infection and it swells up like fuck, scabs up and fills with pus.

It's pretty raid, can't do anything about it, I feel it's going to stick around for life.

You really have to go slow or else you end up fucking your ears up.

Because having a 1-inch hole in them isn't fucked up.

I have a friend who gauged one of his ears to quickly and it tore his ear lobe in half so he has these two dangling things instead of an ear lobe, he cut his other ear lobe in half to match it.

In my honest opinion I see no aesthetic attraction to gauged ears but really style is ones own choice. It's kind of just something else to pull on when your in a fight with someone.

AHHAHAhaHHAHAHAHHAHhahah!

I Like the idea of very small guages, sub 1/2" with ear-rings hung through them (my gf does this hers are probably like 3/8) but as for 1/2" and up? Fuck, please do. More people that do equals more people in the world with a free win-this-fight pull cord. I will tear your big dumb stretched lobe off and then nuke your dome with my knee when you hunch over in agonizing pain. If you try to fight me.

i started gauging my ears when i was 16 or so .. i also finished gauging my ears at 16 or so. i probably did it faster than i should have, but i only went up to a 0ga and i refuse to go bigger than that; it took me 3 weeks to go from a regular 18 to a 0.

i have left them out before and they will still close up if i want them to, which i most likely will as i get older. this is the reason i did not go gauge past a 0.

it is fun to freak out my friends by sticking half my pinkie through the hole and wiggling it about though. none of them are into the whole piercing thing, let alone gauging, so it's always good fun.

In a decade or so they'll get to where they don't close up any more. Just warning you, ask a doctor he'll be able to explain better. I never really understood why.

You can always pay mega $$$ for surgery, they will never be perfect again but you can fix them up a fair bit.

I found in the end it wasn't worth it, I still liked a few options open in normal society, big gauges fuck that up.

Those ears will close up. Please don't speak about things you don't know about.

And as for the guy who mentioned the fighting. Pretty sure I'd take them out before a fight, but then again why would I be in a fight? People always act like a fight is just around the corner when they mention piercings

So many people are against piercings because "they would just get ripped out in a fight". Like seriously, are those people just getting into fights all the time? To me, that isn't even an issue..

I am not such an incompetent fighter that I'm going to let you hook your finger into a 5/8ths inch hole on the side of my head.

good call. my friend had to take his gauges out for his job, they said it would freak customers out about infections or something because he works at a deli counter.. they were over 1" and the hole wasn't about to close anytime soon, if ever. so he took a blade to his former ear lobes, which at that point, were thin dangling loops of skin.  now instead of ear lobes, the bottoms of his ears are just straight horizontal lines. its fucked up.

I'm not a fan of the massive gauges. Complete turn off for me.
I don't mind the smaller ones at all, but massive gaping holes in the ear? :argh:
