No aluminum foil. can I use packing tape this time?

I made jars tonight. Went into kitchen, all my rolls of alum. foil are gone, drunk friend suspected theif. Can I use packing tape to steam sterilize this time? it coveres all holes.

packing tape will melt.

get aluminum foil already! learn to reuse it. I re-use my lid covers some 10 - 20 times before they finally tear.

fack... I cant. Its 10 PM. no stores are open here. And I cant go out until tomorrow, I was hoping i'd be able to sterilzie tomorrow morning, if not now.

good, then now you know that none of these will work.

just get creative. place a second jar lid upside down ontop of your jar to be pressure cooked, and hold it in place with micropore tape. Kind of like an umbrella. It might work, it might not. Here you go, try it and satisfy your need to just do something related to mushroom growing, in a safe manner. Let us know if it worked out for you!

ive used electrical tape before for steaming them. just press it down good and tight. pass a lighter over it a few times, really quickly to get it a tad more sticky. then bam. works if its your only hope. now i meaning actual black electric tape. some ppl call duct tape electric.

masking tape can go in the pc, or medical tape

I nabbed a roll today. its all good, thanks! I'll keep in mind these, although I will stock up on tinfoil soon :wink:

Splurge on some nice heavy duty stuff and reuse it. Will last a looong time.
