I can't see the consistency of this being that good compared to standard 2:1:1 BRF cake. As well i would say PC at 15 PSI for 90 minutes always,

Do you have any picture of this mixture ?

Also, is this suppose to be a cake recipe?. If so then I would not use pint jars always use half pint jars

I do have pics of the finished substrate in jars, just gotta get them off the cam and uploaded.

I would recommend it be used for cake grows, though the purpose in creating the recipe was to use the colonized substrate for casing rather than a PF style grow.

I only gave pint jars as a reference for the amount it makes. What people choose to put it in is personal choice.

sounds more like a bulk substrate than a casing layer.

This can not be used as a casing layer, You can case it tho

that was my thought... colonize it... then case it. I'll keep this thread updated with photos as it progresses

I feel noobish (which I am really anyway)

Where do the other 3 cups of water come into play?

Or am I being dim because the 4 cups are used used to cook the wheat with the 1 cup of reserved water being sufficient to hydrate the vermiculite?

Now that I've said that, your recipe makes more sense

peace out

Unfortunately there won't be any further pics of the subsequent colonization of this batch as upon attempting to fruit 3 of 4 cakes got heavily contaminated. It seems I have a mold problem in my house.

Stay posted for a new batch with pics; this time with 1/2c quinoa added to the mix.
