waste or money???

I've never had real absinthe but I'd say if your finance is stable then get some.

Personally I'd just buy lots of weed and acid.

mainly its just very high alcohol content..with various herbs that make the experiance more vivid and slightly psychedelic.

if you get the real stuff...with good amounts of the herbs i hear its quit diff then reg booze.

Do you like the taste of anise (or licorice)?  That is the predominate flavor of the drink.  It is fun to play with, but if you are expecting some kind of high, other than getting drunk, you will most likely be disappointed.

o i know...its more noveltly than anything...but i have heard some differance. US absinthe has a limit on the thujone levels. Id get a non us absinthe.

i hear it just makes things more vivid and colorful...but yea mainly its just a lot of alcy hah.

1) If you call psychedelic mushrooms boomers, there is a good chance you are mildly retarded. Maybe it's because your mom flicked your soft spot when you were an infant, maybe you were dropped on your head, or maybe it's because you ate lead paint chips as a kid. Either way, I just thought you should know. :tongue:

2) I've had the real absinthe before, the expensive ($100+ per bottle) stuff with very high thujone content on several occasions. The stuff I've had has been from from France, Czech Republic, and Switzerland. The only difference between absinthe and other liquors is it get you very drunk very fast due to it's high alcohol content. Most stuff is at around 140 proof. Some people claim colors are more vivid or it's a more lucid drunk, but placebo is real and they were drunk as shit when they said that, lol.

3) If you do get absinthe, please for the love of god don't just take shots of it. Prepare it the right way with a slotted spoon, sugar cubes, and water. It's actually pretty refreshing when prepared the right way.

I've had real absinthe before. I was drunk as hell........thats about it. I couldn't tell you the difference between normal booze and it.

I drank it a fair amount in Europe.  First off dont worry about the pussy method of pouring the shit over sugar and other pretentious nonsense some people might have you do.  Get the motherfucker, pour the shit into a fucking glass with ice, and sip it.  It's not bad tasting actually.

As for the effects, I always felt like I was more 'up' then when drinking normal liquor.  The effect is not intense but I felt like I was more clearheaded, almost like I had a mild stimulant while drunk.  As for psychedelic effects, it's hard to say really as I was generally trashed at the time.

Absinthe just gets you tremendously drunk without you realizing it until it is too late. Especially if you prepare it as you should (all the sugar ritual, etc).

Keep a bottle of nice cold water on the side and something salty to pick at.

Nice big baloon glasses, and sit around a table with some mates, somewhere dark and relaxed, with a few joints of great weed and watch the night fly away.

The stuff is just a stronger version of Pastis, which the french start drinking on terraces in bars at mid afternoon and keep at it til late as possible.

Eh depends on the brand.  I got to like it honestly.  I hate adding sugar to alcohol in general though, I just cut it with water or ice
