yeah, s13's understeer.  I've owned several, and I'll be the first to acknowledge that.  s14 if you've got the extra money is a great upgrade. but the understeer issues are easily addressed with new bushings, stickier tires, and new shocks/springs.

as for importing a car, there's no set "time" that it has to be however old. to import it and drive it on the street it has to be certified and stuff. its pricey. If i had to guess probably $20,000+ just to get a STOCK car that's probably been driven hard and put away wet.

91/92/93 have VERY MINIMAL differences. In fact, I don't know off the top of my head ANY of the differences. Maybe different paint choices or something along the like. Any changes will be purely aesthetic. 91/92/93 are identical mechanically.

hatchback and coupe are equally viable drift cars. coupe is a little lighter IIRC. coupes are a little harder to find.  If you can (they are rare) find a SE HICAS model. it means All wheel Steering. you'll actually want to eventually disable the AWS but the HICAS models are the only s13's that came with a LSD from the factory. 

i would definitely suggest getting a 5speed.  You can swap from an auto to 5spd, its been done plenty of times but its a PITA.  www.zilvia.net is a great site to check out. there's other sites too but I can't remember which ones.

But seriously,drifting is an expensive friggin hobby man.Try and go to a drift show sometime...Last month I went to Formula D and had a blast,the drivers are nice enough to give you advice also.

yeah, I never got bit into drifting, I was just exposed to it. But I sold my 240 a few months before that movie came out. After the movie came out, the value of my car tripled (After I'd sold it) DOH!!!

but yeah, F+F (the first one, and the third one) ruined street racing and drifting for the people who actually did it and were good at it. It made all the little cool kids want to do it.  But it did have one nice side effect, lotta junkyard parts available thanks to dumbass kids wrecking :smile:

yeah, I used to be pretty big into Nissans.  haven't had a car I mod'd for several years now though.  I wouldn't mind getting back into it. This SN was originally made probably 9 years ago. Nismo (obvious) 24 (for 2.4L engine) and 91 for 1991. I had a 91 240sx. I wasn't a drifter though, I'm an ass dragger at heart and was damn good at it. 11.49@121 mph is my record.

not necessarily.  there are plenty of imports that are hella fast at drag racing. just cause the supra and DSM's (talon/eclipse/laser, also another specialty of mine) are better bases to start with doesn't mean they are the only good imports to drag. there are plenty of sub 10 second civics, integras, eclipses, rx7's, 300zx's, and many many others)

and there are plenty of muscle that is competitive in drifting (is it Toyo tires that runs a mustang? I know somebody does, i've been outta the scene for so long now some of that stuff is fading).  But if I wanted to build an american muscle car into a drifter, a 86 camaro wouldn't be my first choice. either a lightweight vette, or at least something post late-mid 90's, ya know, with fiberglass panels and such instead of heavy steel.

Oh yeah I know there is a lot of domestic/import crossover, I'm just kinda drunk and can't think of any others. But you have to admit, eclipses and supras are NOT meant to go sideways. I think the Viper is a decent drift car too.

supras are overpowered when it comes to drifting.  eclipses are a whole lotta fun if/when you can get them sideways,  but the whole AWD thing doesn't really make it a drifter. better for like snow/dirt/wet etc. similar to rally racing.\

as for vipers? I'm pretty sure there is nothing they aren't good at. assuming the road is paved.
