Pepper Season!

It's pepper season! Not just because I got mad takanotsume peppers





But because my immature bolivian rainbow is starting to form flowers



Peter pepper has flowers and a big juicy wang pepper coming in



My habanero is actually growing



Not to be confused with my habanero that sucks ass that has been this size since I planted it last year



Bhut jolokias aren't flowering any, but they're coming in nice. First one from mallacht, all the rest from seed







And of course my dear old friend

Ive got some ghost peppers going. Only one im afraid to eat though. I guess i just like to watch my friends eat them. But good lookin pepper plants.:thumbup:

My bell peppers are finally recovering from the unusually cold "winter" we had down south this year. Starting to show new leaves and flowers! Wasn't sure they would work out perenially outside.

Wow, those takanotsume peppers grow upside down just like some thai red dragon peppers that I grew years ago. I think that's so interesting that some peppers for whatever reason started growing upwards instead of down. I wonder what the practical evolutionary purpose for such a thing would be?

Interesting question, I can't think of anything other than that the mutation of growing upward was favorable maybe because, to me, the upward peppers appear to camoflage with the leaves somewhat. There's probably a better, correct reason that I do not know.

Your Bolivian Rainbow is just as dark as some of mine. I'm just harvesting the last peppers off of them now. They are pretty hot too, I mean real hot! Also that takanotsume is flowering hard, you're going to get a bountiful harvest off that one. :yesnod:

KBG - behind the habanero that's growing is a 4 o'clock from that seed trade you gave me. It started flowering either this week or last.

They say takanotsume means like "claw" or "talon" or some shit in Japanese. It's supposed to look like a hawk's talon. They love moist soil and direct sunlight. Supposed to be really really hot like it's upright brethren.

It seems rather weird thinking about the evolutionary aspect. You'd think the downward growing would be ideal to have larger fruits/more seeds to spread about.

Maybe it just looked badass and was isolated/cultivated... it is the exact same species as bell peppers, takanotsume's larger cousin who lacks testicles.
