Using normal fertilizer as liquid fertilizer
    #12528267 -

Would there be a problem if I were to use normal fertilizer(the kind you apply to the surface and then water vigorously) dissolved in water?

Theres not too much diffrence (if it all dissolves, which it probably wont), but what are you feeding?

You have to be careful with nitrogen and cacti.

I would use it at half strength. I would check the ppm and mix it out to about 800 ppm.  Then I would adjust the ph accordingly to 6.

No, and that's why I'm just gonna use half a teaspoon/litre it has worked well and my plants don't seem to be hurt by it, but then again it's only been 2 days.

Yeah just don't overdo it and no need for a parts per million/ electric conductivity meter. Just need one of them for hydroponics, so don't go out and buy one just to measure your fertilizer. There pretty expensive, I bought mine for $175... but it saves my ass.

wow I got mine for about $35. But yeah you could mix it at half of what the directions say.  But I would be careful about the PH or you could get nutrient lockout.

Thanks alot guys, I'll buy some PH strips next week!

Also, what can i use to heighten the PH, would eggshells work?

Yeah I got some industrial one with a ppm x 500 ppm x 700 ppm x 1000, and it's solar powered. only one at the hydroponic store. Very rediculously expensive.

No, eggshells won't work. Don't go and mess with the pH unless you know what it is to begin with. For all you know you could be making things worse. If you are really worried about soil pH buy a soil test kit and start from there.

Most commercial potting soils are within the required pH range that enable plants to take up nutrients. If they didn't they wouldn't still be in business. Soil manufactures down here in Aus have to comply to certain standards, not sure how it works up in your part of the globe though.

Gardening isn't really that popular over here so there aren't many, if any, specialized stores, thanks for the advice I'll just try flushing the soil before entering flowering.

"Birds are known for their hard-shelled eggs. The eggshell is approximately 95% calcium carbonate crystals, which are stabilized by a protein matrix.[1] "  -from

So, reading inbetween the lines, theres alot of calcium, but its not soluble.  How about Damp-rid? Damp-rid (calcium chloride) is my pick for easy calcium..  and it also leads up to the practice of foliar feeding.

I think I have some of that stuff laying around, is it the kind that will turn to liquid after a while of being exposed to humidity?
From what I've read foliar feeding isn't very good because some of the nutrients stick to the final product and I think smoking/eating fertilizer isn't that healthy.

That's why you WASH your food before you eat it... lol....

Which do you think is worse, eating foliar feed, or eating the harsh pesticides that are sometimes on grocery store food that you have to wash off?

If you are growing Cannabis, I wouldn't foliar feed during flowering, but that's just me. Some people still foliar feed special "Bloom Foliar" formulas, but I don't like the idea of the stuff being stuck to the flowers either.

Haha, Its is for growing canny and fruits/veggies, and I like to make hash out of the leafs so I'd rather not foliar feed at all just in case.

Ah, I didn't catch that we were growing Unmentionable plants.

Foliar feeding canna is a viable option too before flowering.  It's not about your standard N-p-k fertilizers.  It's about efficiently applying trace minerals  (which are mostly metals and other semi-heavy compounds) and putting them right where they're needed, in the open stomatas of leaves.
