It is conclusive that smoking only cannabis is not associated with an increased risk of lung cancer.  But you are right, most of the research is not conclusive.

But, with that said, there is a lot more evidence of cannabis fighting cancer then there is evidence of it causing or strengthening it. 

Anyways, a different method of ingestion would def. be optimal.

consumption rates of cannabis do not compare to that of tobacco so the research is flawed.

As far as I know, there's nothing to suggest that the simple act of inhaling burned plant matter will in itself cause cancer. It'll certainly cause emphysema and other lung health issues, but the carcinogenic effects of smoking come from chemicals present in the smoke, not necessarily the smoke itself. Which is why smoking cannabis doesn't appear to increase risk of lung cancer.
