smoked up my grandfather * 2

so in my previous thread i told you guys how my grandfather has lung cancer and its agressive so he doesnt have long to live.

so i was just sitting there talking with him and then i brought up marijuana and how it might help him and he fought with the idea at first but soon after i started reading him some facts about how marijuana can ease anxiety and slow the spread of cancer he decided to take a puff.
i rolled a blunt because he used to smoke cigar's and he coughed like a mofo but after 6 or 7 hits i could tell he was blazed. soon after he told me to order a pizza :gethigh:.

i feel so happy that i helped my grandpa get over some of his pain and give him a some relief and he said he would try it again. :awehigh:

this is great bonding time

ironically i had a dream about rolling a blunt and smoking it with my grandma, but see she's a southerner raised by farmers and would probably call the police on my if she found out i even ever touched weed.

That's really awesome. I dunno if I'd smoke a blunt with someone who has lung cancer though. Then again I'd probably make the dude vape a dab of BHO though... so.... I'm not entirely sure that's any better LOL!

i would suggest making the cannabis into food next time, its prolly not good for him to be smoking with lung cancer. Cannabinoids have been known to slow the spread of certain types of cancer, but smoking cannabis is a damaging method of ingestion.

Vape or make food, but when those aren't options I would say go ahead and have him keep smoking.  He needs to enjoy the time he has left on Earth.  That's awesome though!

i really wish i could do the same with my grandfather. hes 84 and in shit health. he would probably go for it too, and i think it would do him a lot of good... but hes got serious blood pressure/heart issues and im not so sure he could handle the cardio side effects.

smoking with lung cancer is worse for him than any benefits recieved by the cannabis. Its possibly shortening the time he has left here, use a a differant method of administration.

That sucks, very smart of you.  Blood pressure side effects can be a bitch.

I say it might be just as likely that he is increasing his life span - THC slows growth of tumor cells.  Obviously a different method of administration is probably a better idea, and it is possible that it is shortening his life, but it is probably possible that it is doing the opposite.  :shrug:

people are taking the research alittle too far. Its not as conclusive as people make it out to be.

It is conclusive that smoking only cannabis is not associated with an increased risk of lung cancer.  But you are right, most of the research is not conclusive.

But, with that said, there is a lot more evidence of cannabis fighting cancer then there is evidence of it causing or strengthening it. 

Anyways, a different method of ingestion would def. be optimal.

Either way, you don't want his own cells that are fighting the cancer to be impeded by tar and ash.

That is the largest study ever done on the subject.  How many people would you like to be involved in a study before you would label it "now flawed?"  I mean yeah, less people use cannabis then use tobacco, but that doesn't mean you can't study a large amount of cannabis only smokers.

If you put tobacco in your blunt then its not good. Nicotine inhibits cancer cell apoptosis. Apart from that it severely impairs the effect of chemotherapy. So smoke pure preferably from a bong or vaped :vaped:

Get some broccoli when your grandpa is stoned since they contain many anticancerous things such as 3,3'-diindolemethane which stimulate the innate cellular defense against cancer. I love munching on fruits and vegies while baked :awesome:

Perhaps introduce him to shrooms. I remember some thread about psilocin used by cancer patients to reduce anxiety and whatnot. Could be higly beneficial :sun::mushroom2:

As far as I know, there's nothing to suggest that the simple act of inhaling burned plant matter will in itself cause cancer. It'll certainly cause emphysema and other lung health issues, but the carcinogenic effects of smoking come from chemicals present in the smoke, not necessarily the smoke itself. Which is why smoking cannabis doesn't appear to increase risk of lung cancer.

Are you even aware how cancer occurs and what chem combo in tobacco compared to weed can induce malignant transformation? There is a lot more than just burned plant material. I'm not saying that the latter is harmless in terms of cancer induction but the cannabinoids in weed can upregulate certain apoptotic factors thus diminish the damage caused by the burned plant chems.

the point is, if he has lung cancer, he'd be wise to treat his lungs as gently as possible

there are FAR less risky ways to ingest cannabis -- vape, food, or even a bubbler pipe

if the weed is just being used for the sake of comfort and enjoyment, fine, but don't claim you're using it medically if you're gonna choose the single least healthy way for him to smoke it
