Finished Orwell's 'Animal Farm' earlier this afternoon, actually. I watched some videos on youtube a little while ago about the advice from authors to young writers.. they advocated that the aspiring writer should, get this, read (voraciously, if possible). So, you're on the right track. (:

Same here man... But let me tell you, after not getting lost in a book for a very long time, and finally getting enough willpower to sit and ignore the activities of everyone else.... I feel about as happy as I do on any drug.

Cormac McCarthy. Also wrote No Country for Old Men and Blood Meridian.

I just finished Open Veins of Latin America by Eduardo Galeano. Anyone interested in Latin American history/U.S. history/economics has to read this.

Oh I love reading, although I don't do it too often. Lately I've been reading this Grateful Dead book written by the band's manager so it's filled with really personal, intimate details of the lifestyle they lived.

George Orwell is pretty damn good. I loved 1984 and Animal Farm was good, so I'm looking into checking out another book by him.

The best Orwell book is Homage to Catalonia, thats definitely a book worth picking up. Its about his experiences in the spanish civil war fighting for a trotskyist militia called the POUM. Did you know he was shot in the neck? Its an amazing experience/story, and so is burmese days, and shooting and elephant, and a hanging. Fuck, all of his shit is amazing! Sorry, i just like orwell :shrug:

I just got done reading Ayn Rand's "the fountainhead"



I was impressed by her novel-writing abilities.  I had only read her political ramblings, so I was surprised when she did a good job of character and plot development.

Getting lost in a book is definitely one of my favorite ways to relax, I wish I had time to do it more.
