If a graftingstock is pupping...

I have a Hylocereus grafted with a Lophophora for about 3 months or so... the graft didn't really noticable grew, but the graftstock is now pupping, does that mean that the graft didn't work out?
I don't want to cut of the pup yet, because I could use the pup, so I am letting it grow big enough to cut, but I was just wondering...

I rip em off, unless its a nice stock then I let em grow for a few weeks and then rip em off and replant.

Not necessarily, it may take some time for it to get pumping along. So long as the scion is turgid all should be well. Give it time.

As for the pupping rootstock, it is recommended to remove these as they appear because they rob energy from the scion but if you are in need of stock you can let them grow a little before removing for propagation.

What the others said. Be careful if leaving them on though. I have one graft in which the stock was pupping. I was letting it grow until I noticed it was pushing the scion off as it grew due to the proximity to it.
