Can't find TYVEK! Help!

I am ready to do LC but I cannot find any tyvek. I went to the local post office none of their envelopes had it.... They gave me a bunch of free priority mail envelopes and nada. I also bought onethat was padded and it ended up being like carboard fillings....

What should I do?

Hobby stores often sell Tyvek for kite building. It works excellent.

The tyvek envelopes at USPS are the ones that are really thin, not padded and sorta shiney and plastic-y

You could actually buy tyvek instead of looking to steal it.

I got mine as a coverall, just eBay'ed 'tyvek large' got it for £2 delivered, and its enough to last a life time

The local USPS gave me a bunch of free envelopes....

I found a tyvek suit for painters at LOwes and they got it instock intown.

And yes the USPS still uses tyvek in there envelopes.  Tyvek keeps out the elements like water so it keeps important documents safe during transport.

Doesn't the tiny cost, and 2-second job, outweighs the less than ideal conditions?

I use Tyvek for bags, how would you suggest gas exchange without losing RH?

I am not really a huge fan of filters on LC jars.

I think it works well enough without filter for my use, and it is waaaay more easy to shake and suck out without contam worries… :shrug:

no the tyvek tape will NOT work.  it's basically packing tape only the adhesive is modified to stick to the surface of the tyvek. it's not the same thing.

you never know, the secret post office police might be conducting an undercover investigation on why they're losing so many envelopes. they prob. have spies right here on the shroomery, waiting, watching.....and then one day you'll be on your way to work and BAM! a dozen black postal jeeps surround your car and your tackled to the ground taken to an undisclosed location and interrogated about the whereabouts of some 17 tyvek envelopes!
