smelly dry shrooms

Hi to all,
Recently picked the first mature shrooms from a first crop and I've been drying them for a few days.
My question is : do dry shrooms smell ?
I've used a dessicant to dry them in a plastic bag and, when I opened the bag, it smelled like feet really.
There doesn't seem to be a contamination, the shrooms look normal and smelled like shrooms when fresh so, could there be a problem or is it just normal ?
Thanx to all, your help's been of great value to go through this first crop.

otherwise, i dunno. if they didn't rot, then something's going on that ain't right

Shrooms smell bad, but not like feet.

Zam, you need to fan dry those shrooms immediatly.
they are getting moldy.
If you hurry and dry them you might be able to save them......
I did the same thing to my very first large crop of B+ and lost about what would have been a dry ounce.

They've been drying fast (in 3-4 days) in the bag with dessicant.
After three days of drying they are hard but just smell like feet.
Don't how to dry them faster

Definitely get a fan on them. 3 or 4 days to dry isn't too fast actually. I fan dry for 24 hours, dessicant chamber for 24. 2 days and they're cracker dry. The fan drying will dry and shrink them quickly, so the dessicant doesn't need to work so hard. You save time on drying, and save money on your dessicant.

ya you shouldnt put wet shrooms with des, not until you air dry for 24-48 hrs, then throw em in just when you think you couldnt evaporate any more water, the des will! good luck.

well ive never smell shrooms that smell like feet.  but if your opinion is that shrooms smell like feet, cause you said they smell like fresh shrooms, then i would say theyre fine.  if they look good, smell good, and the cakes, or casing was not contaminated, i would eat em.... goble em up  :smile:  but if you have any doubts, like hey whats that black fuzzy thing growing over there, and sure does reak... don't eat it.  just use common sense, ull be good.  id eat em.
