Hey There, Hi There, Ho There!!! Need Assistance, PLEASE!!!

I am trying to get all the supplies together for my first experiments.... The problem I am having is this >>> I have looked ALL over this town and can not find ANY vermiculite..... Is there a Grow Tek that is as simple as the PF-Tek for beginners, yet doesnt require any vermiculite >OR< Is there an alternative I can use in place of vermiculite?? Any and all suggestions will be accepted...... Take Care!!!

Use whole grain rye. Then you won't need those pesky rock flakes.

try loewes home supply stores or home depot. thats where i got mine. and u can get brown rice flour at the super market.

I found it very difficult to find vermiculite as well....until I asked someone at home depot. They dont carry it where you think it should be(garden center). Just ask someone or go to a nursery. Good luck

This will give you better yeilds and better potency. Go to sporeworks and look at the grain tek by anno. Use the birdseed recipie with 1 pint jars not 1/2 pint. Why use brf when you can use wholegrains?.

Cause some of them don't have a pressure cooker.

I like using Quart jars with Rye grain and Birdseed.

Wouldnt you need to case with vermiculite when using grain rye? Or can one use grain rye without casing at all?

You can just use normal brown rice.
I did my first grows with brown rice before I ever even heard of The Shroomery.
It worked fine for me, producing some really nice fruit.

Dodo, you don`t need vermiculite to case, it just retains water better than straight coco coir or peat moss for eg.

Hey everyone...... Thanks for the ideas. I dont think I am quite ready to try the grain-teks. I will just continue trying to find it around here. Someplace has to carry it..... if I cant find any in a couple days I will just order on-line. I just feel like I should start at the beginning.
