But did he work for the CIA?

That's an argument I've been wrestling with for some time.

I don't know anything about the connection between the man himself and the CIA; care to shed some light?

It is without question that the war on drugs is a failure. It has failed to prevent drug abuse. It has failed to keep drugs out of the hands of addicts. It has failed to stop drug overdoses. It has failed to keep drugs away from teenagers. It has failed to stop the violence associated with drug trafficking. It has failed to help drug addicts get treatment. It has failed to prevent the cultivation of marijuana and the making of illicit drugs. It has failed to halt the flow of illegal drugs into the United States.

Well,
I do believe it has been alleged that Bob Marley was a CIA agent meant to empower the people of Jamaica and the Caribbean, the whole world, really, to stand up and fight the power.  While this is, in essence, a good thing, the purpose of it was to really give the people unattainable goals of becoming a sovereign power.

Pushing the Rasta religion (the history of which is pretty interesting), inspiring violent revolution, etc...

I don't really know of many facts in this theory, it's just I've heard some things, unsubstantiated, that piqued my interest.  Naturally because it's Bob Marley.

I've got half of a conspiracy theory mind as it is, so whatevs.

:rasta::ganja::jah:

thanks decypher.

and bob and the CIA had a relationship: an adversarial one. the white government in Jamaica was firmly in the USA's pocket and intensely disliked that the Rastas, who had long been a thorn in their side, now had begun to receive international fame and admiration.

black, revolutionary, and popular has never been a good combination unless you want to be a martyr.

No, no reads.  Just google it and pick one.

Word of mouth is where I've gotten most of my info re. Bob.  Otherwise, it comes from my head and putting the puzzle together.

Google Rasta Religion.

The Piby, I think it was called, was a prevalent first book about the rasta guidelines for life.
"rasta don't eat nothing unclean"

etc..

A reformed bible.  The man related to this is of interest, too.  I do not know his name.  But he was, what I call, a shit starter.

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Asking a large community of people on the shroomery "who digs bob marley" is like asking a huge group of real music fans "who likes the beatles"
