that is what i do.  i have interesting conversations.  but that is not the point of the thread.  the point is being misunderstood, but i suspected that.  even regularly interesting conversations tighten the bolts of the conditioned thought process that hinders the awakening of lucidity in life.

i never said people are failures, that is an assumption.  people are what they are.  everything that has come to be is natural, and i accept that, or make an effort to.  i don't see how your question has any relevance at all to the message behind the OP.  but it gives me answers to my own questions.

I never defined "social" so how do you know how I define it?  :boxerface:

Anyway, I agree with that socialibility is not limited to purely verbal means.  A shared glance or an embrace conveys much more than words ever shall.

An elaboration of my post would be:

I choose verbal communication over silence because all that we are follows from the evolution of communication from the purely nonverbal to the verbal, the spoken word.  I think it would be a denial of what and why we are to choose not to speak.

I seemed to know more when I was younger, at least to myself, but I had trouble expressing it, and the people who were influencing me most also seemed to let the matters speak for themselves instead of trying to explain what is difficult or impossible to explain.

this goes especially for meditation - i.e. you can't know or judge it unless you try it successfully.

you will run into people like orgoneconclusion who will whine about how it never ever worked for him. He tried it unsuccessfully many times, or had poor guidance or poor chemistry with the process or something...

He seems to be an advanced enough individual, probably even verging on mensa grade, and yet no amount of trying meditation will ever work or has ever worked for him.

(let us sidestep any issue about being blocked or negatively predisposed)

so there are going to be some people that you just can't share the experience with. they won't get it by analogy, and they won't get it by involvement, and you have to let that go. it is the most healing thing possible. (letting it go)

then comes the whole thing about noise, and i must say there is noise on the one hand, and there is insurmountably distracting noise - and for the latter it seems that holidays or retreats, make a lot of sense - but realistically they are a form of tourism, like a holistic travel agency with a twist - and once you immerse in silence, it will seem not that different from noise (that whole form is emptiness and emptiness is form thing).

in the end we need to learn to deal with the noise that is around us and to work with it as it is, but we also need to know to take a holiday if we need one and have the opportunity.

( a cute travel agent could make all the difference... )

speaking of twists of fate, I just lost my job of 10 years, though I saw it coming for a few months, it is still a bit of a shock. Now I am having a sort of unpaid quiet holiday with my resume, you could say.

I've meditated enough to notice some effects but not to fully describe and understand them. The most noticible effect is after I meditate everything seems 'quiet'.

Either there is some kind of internal noise amplifier which you can turn down or there is a negative internal response to noise which is so quick and unconscious that we think it is the same as the noise.
