It's from a guy I know. He grows shiitake and sells tehcnology & spawn to other growers. He made this autoclave by himself and it cost him only a fraction of normal price.
But I don't know how much. Business secret.  :crazy:

Why steam jacket?

As far my understanding goes, autoclaves for mushroom production are heated by live steam directly at the inside of a pressure vessel(a pipe with a big diameter.
The steam enters the autoclave, condenses while heating the goods inside up, and collects at the bottom of the autoclave.
So basically all you need is a pipe with 2 lids(but of course the thickness of the pipe has to match the pressure and diameter) and a suitable steam generator.
Depending on the size of the vessel(and the country you live in) it has to be checked by authorities or not.

No, I was telling you that a steam jacket is not needed with this type of autoclaves.
Just a closed pipe and a steam source.(not to forget all the security devices like a gauge and an overpressure release valve...)

We are talking autoclave here, complete sterilization, not pasteurization.
