99% of people might think they understand it, but in what sense do they?  What sort of understanding do they have, which would make questions about their meaning obsolete?  If they really understood, wouldn't such questions be easy?

So, perhaps fittingly, the poll to decide whether P&S was in good shape or not was rendered useless due to people not reading.

Maybe that should be a rule, posts must be read before they are reacted to.  Totally unenforceable.
