i'm right there w/ you addicts. It certainly is a means of time wasting. It began as curiosity years and years ago. Then, the curiosity mixed with the ease and availability of material on the internet. Problem is, the web is just getting filled with more and more free content. Moving on to soft core/ non porn content won't help. Since you have a strong compulsion bordering on addiction, the new content will simply increase your interests, and you'll move on to that for a while. Its hell really. Absolute hell. I can sit here and type this and not be horny what so ever, but if I were to open up another tab with porn or attractive women(or anything that turns me on) and forget all about this post, and start lurking the internet. Another anon mentioned the neural pathways that are opened up, and now have recorded the information. He's right, its different to drug addiction. Its worse. The images are stuck. And they are very easy to trigger. I think, if allowed to go unchecked, can lead to some SERIOUS problems.
Consider my position.... I moved to another country just over 3 months ago. I haven't been able to work legally for the first 90 days. My wife would go off to work, and I would be left here in the apartment. I could make a choice...look at porn or not look at porn. even after getting a work permit, during online job searches and CV/resume work, I get distracted and go the porn or message board route. Problem is, I would say that my productive life is far out-weighed by my unproductive life. I ask myself...how could I possibly think of sex when I have so many really important matters to take care of?!?! Especially when financially unstable and out of work. Its selfishness to the absolute max! Its an addiction, and difficult to consciously control. Those who aren't in this position have no idea how it feels, and will probably say some insensitive shit. No matter. What I wouldn't mind is someone to pick apart my post and tell me where it seems I am going wrong.
I'm married too. There is absolutely nothing (seemingly) wrong w/ our sex life, but I'm sure we could be having sex way more than we currently are. Thing is, I'm as attracted to my wife as ever, and enjoy our sexual encounters immensely. But the problem is, I'm also attracted to the women on the computer screen and the outside world almost equally. Also, if you happen to develop a fetish (or mere sexual compulsion) of any sort, which I have, you are bound to be fulfilled adequately by the internet, but not by your partner alone. So, sorry to hijack your thread, but I am well aware that I have problems too. I'm 28, and have been developing this problem for years now. Its far worse than ever. I'm sure my sexual interests are developing in an unhealthy manner too. To be honest. I don't believe anything rational or psychoanalytic will necessarily help. I often think about my past and have explored my early sexual introductions all the way up to my teen years and after. I can see rationally why I am going through this. Thats not the problem. Its the remedy that I'm looking for. I think it may be time to adhere to a strict religious and even dogmatic approach to life. this is where dogmatism begins(in some form or another). But I have to also be able to break free from dogmatic thinking. I don't know. But all I do know is that my compulsions and this post needs to end. Anyway, enough for now.
