Anti-Smoking Commercials
    #11540937 -

Fuck you.

I'm so sick of them. Yeah, smoking kills people, I think everyone on the entire planet knows now. Why do they make it look like cigarette companies are unemotional douchebags who are out to get all the children and steal all their innocent magic? I'm willing to bet that not everyone who works for tobacco companies is a millionaire. I'm even more willing to bet a lot of them do it to get food on the table for their families, farmers included.

You know what I want to see? A tobacco company doing a commercial that says "Hey, smoking is bad, but when you turn 18 and you want to try it, there you go. Because that's your right, as a true blooded American! Hurrah! *explosion* *national anthem plays*"

Fuck you, "Truth", I'm so fucking sick of you and your smugness. Yeah, companies suck, they all do, from Nike to Lucky Strikes. However, it seems the fad has been in the last few years to punish smokers, tobacco companies, and everyone involved because that's what we do. We operate according to fads. Hell, 50 years ago everyone in congress was lighting up like there was no tomorrow. Now it's need money, fuck it, let's tax a pack of cigarettes even more! And they do it because everyone will nod their heads, :drooling:, while Mr. Joe gets fucked over because he wants to do something on his own time. Why? Because it's hammered in to us now that tobacco companies are so fucking evil they will rape your children and kill your cat, and then have a sandwich from your fridge. And the government now knows this, so they make money off it.

AND I DON'T EVEN SMOKE!

It really doesn't seem like they have any influence on the vast majority of smokers anyways. Most people who smoke already know the dangers of smoking yet they choose to do it anyways or are having trouble kicking the habit, others are just ignorant/ don't care lol.

They don't have any effect on behavior.  They are just another way of wasting taxpayer's money.  It is absurd to think that the 'Nanny' government knows what is best for you...people need to wake up and hit back, stop these idiots wearing suits and ties in the government from trying to tell us what is and isn't good for us.

It's like I've always told the people who get over indulged in anti-smoking or try to tell you how bad it is: The people who know just how bad smoking is for you are the people who smoke. Leave them the fuck alone.

I'm 110% in support of anti-smoking campaigns.

Childrens/teenagers need this media to influence them to a healthier lifestyle.

I don't want to take away the rights of smokers... but don't believe for a second that it's anyway beneficial, it should ALWAYS be discouraged.

It fucking bad for you.... really fucking bad.

There's no debate.

Government shouldn't be able to take away your right to smoke... but get real... tobacco smoking is BAD, it's absolutely terrible for your health.

Anti-Smoking commercials have made it illegal for an establishment to allow me to enjoy a cigarette with my meal.

It's over-zealous propaganda. And it's working in all the wrong ways.

Bollocks, 2nd hand smoke is dangerous.

Smoke outside.

I entirely support smoking and non-smoking sections, these have gone out of style in Australia (or perhaps they're entirely illegal?).

You should NOT be allowed to smoke in a resturant unless specific sections are setup, if they are... that's entirely fine.

I'm not an asshole man :p
Obviously if I was seated by someone young I wouldn't smoke.
And in America the only places that weren't sectionalized (yeah I also make up words) before the laws were places you wouldn't wanna take your kids to anyway.

TheTruth.com is an anti-smoking campaign in the United States. The campaign is run by the American Legacy Foundation and funded by US tobacco companies under the terms of the Master Settlement Agreement.

No one should be surprised that their attacks on the tobacco companies are so over-the-top that they make you want to smoke a cigarette out of spite. They are the tobacco companies!

These ads are not funded by the US government. They are funded by smokers through the tobacco companies. However I'm inclined to believe that smoking is bad for you, even if the government says so.

that's quite a bold statement you make there

making smoking in public places illegal (trainstations, restaurants, bars clubs etc) definitely reduced smoking behaviour and smokers overall. At least here it did. I'm sure these brutal anti smoking commercials do work too. There's a lot less smokers than 50 years ago (I know that's an effect not only to be attributed to commercials, but it's a part of it)

I'd say the smoking people are the douchebags, not the tobacco companies

(uh oh what did I do... smokers don't take comments like this lightly:crazy:)

Oh yeah, also they're planning on making all ciggarettepacks look the same, basically all white and with the name of the brand and stuff like that, so theyll be less-appealing to people  :lolsy:
I think that would be cool though, just white with some simple printed text. Could make them more appealing IMO

The commercials are fine. The US Government does not make/pay for these ads.

Once we legalize all drugs, I still hope that there are ads informing people of the negative effects of drugs

smoking is a human non verbal bond guesture . a hand reached out to any one of any language. (even tripping people way out there understand the offering of a smoke)

a light helps too.

smoking has little to do with modern "tobacco companys"
\
put that in your pipe and smoke it. make your own and share away

i don't know, but i know i don't know. i'm sure i know this.  if you can't grow it don't take it

it wants me to get involved, but i won't. if i get involved why would i come back? I'll just set here and watch. it will be better for now to stay here. but i sure would like to get involved...

why don't we just ban all the factorys and cars polluting the air if we really care about the quality of the air to go to these lengths?

its hilarious...the bus terminal here, you can get fined for smoking under the canopy and yet the buses are sitting there emitting their carcinogenic diesel fumes lol

I didn't know you could get fined so I lit up and had the security dude come up and tell me I couldn't smoke under here and he then informed me of how ridiculous this was considering all the buses polluting the air

we both had a mild laugh and I obeyed

Anti-smoking ads are only there to uphold the image that the government actually cares about your health which it clearly doesn't. Many of these campaigns are funded by the Department of Health themselves.

It's bogus.
