No more social smoking for me

Tonight I went to see a band called crazy fingers, they are a grateful dead coverband. I was hanging out with a girl that I knew from school and didnt hang out with much. I have a thing for her so I was gonna try and get close to her. On the car ride to the concert we smoke some bud, except for her. I was with her sister and her sister's friend.

After smoking I got very quiet and withdrawn from everything. When we got their they all went dancing and kept trying to get me up and dance but I was just to shy and withdrawn and stuck in a chair LOL.

So i pretty much ruined my chances with her and I feel like i gotta stop smoking cuz its fucking up my social life. Like I get to shy when I smoke around people."

Does anyone else get like that.

ya...when ever i used to smoke...i always quieted up...now i'm not the most talkative person...but when i smoked...i just shut up...sat back and observed everything....got made fun of hard core by my friends cause i never talked...oh well...i was high and enjoyin' the atmosphere...

i know what your talking about. you have to be comfortable with the people your with and know them real well before you can do shit like that when your high sometimes.

But a few drinks bring you back to home base.

Yea I'm not the most talkative person to start. But I guess it was just kinda hanging out with them for the first time in a really social environment. Just totally fucked me over. Like if only I got up and danced I would of been fine.

At the end durring the last 2 songs I got up and kinda just bounced around and bounced my head but I just felt so weird and uncomfortable.

Also it was probably the fact that I was probably anywhere from 4-30 years younger then the people there...

when i smoke a bunch i get like that. just way too chilled out to worry about anything else except sitting there.

i was the same way when i was in High School. always high, did everything high and become withdrawn around people that werent in my tight circle of friends. every time i'd go to a new house, party or anywhere with people i hadn't met i just wouldnt talk.

i remember being in the same situation with girls that i was told were interested in me, and ruined it because we got high and i completely stopped talking. people thought i was either a complete burnout or just a stuck-up prick.

i quit when i was about 18 or 19, and totally changed. my head cleared up, and now 6 years later i can enjoy the occasional smoke and not have a problem socially. although i do enjoy getting high by mylself or just a few close friends i already know better then with new people. weed just makes some people get paranoid, i was one of them!  :crazy2:

you know come to think of it, i did smoke shitty herb back then. :confused: dirt weed/commercial was mostly all i smoked, and that shit could be part of the problem. also i dosed all the time on acid which didn't help, and when i would smoke all the time sometimes it would bring back the feelings of acid

now all i will ever smoke is kind - and some does still give me a high-strung nervous buzz which i dont like, but some will mellow me out and doesnt bother me at all. im just real picky now about what i smoke, and who i smoke with (maybe twice a month i will smoke now)

Werid.. all of your comments are very different from what i would feel like after getting stoned and going into the public. Marijuana seems to make it easier to interact and get to know people.. in my opinon. (not that i would have gotten up and danced either..) but its interesting all these posts of being shy after smoking pot.

Yeah, it sometimes makes me kinda shy when I'm with people that I'm not real confortable around. Used to happen to me worse when I was younger. My advice-just be high and enjoy it. Who gives a fuck what anyone thinks about it, as long as you're having a good time. Especially at a concert like that. Nobody's gonna judge you for dancing like an idiot. Look at all the people around you.

It depends on the pot too.there are lots of anti-anxiety chill strains out there. but you have to grow them peobably. :shrug: they are well worth it though they can make you even more social.

I smoke and get all withdrawn and shy so I smoke more to relax and then I get paranoid. Usually if I drink I become out going and belligerant. Also the mix of alchohol with weed kind of makes me less paranoid.
