Spare parts & innovation for drying TEK 1

Before anyone says this is a waste of money: It was built from spare items I had sitting around my house from collection through the years. This is not meant to be economical but it is meant to store a good amount of mushies to dry out and quickly.
Items: 1 -60qt rubbermaid container with holes every inch 4 - 120mm computer fans w/ blue leds (blue being the obvious choice for this hobby) 2 - sliding screen windows ( you can add as many as you would like - the demonstration is just using 2, can easily hold many more and dry just as efficiently) 1 - 600w power supply with power switch 1 1/2" screws - 4 per rack
The assembly is pretty self explanatory. Cut your 120 mm circles in places shown.. mount with screws and all fans are blowing inward; the holes will work as your exhaust; use each fan as intake. Daisy chain your 4 pin peripheral power cables or use each individual power cable coming from the power supply to power a fan per cable. The racks are small sliding screen windows ( separated from one another ) found at ACE Hardware. They are simply mounted on the screws and are very secure. Also with each screw you put through the chamber you want to wind a bolt down onto it so that it actually is able to give support. This is pretty simple and of course it is mainly for fun and to have a neat drying chamber to have in your dedicated hobby space. This can easily be built from spare parts but if you feel the need to purchase it all it won't cost more than 30$. Which beats buying desiccant over and over. This will get your mushrooms cracker dry within a few days. You can fit up to 8 - 10 racks in the chamber, which will allow you to dry a substantial amount. Enjoy my fellow shroomies

I like it. I'd rather use that than a food dehydrator, i've only made mess of mushrooms using heat. I may build that in the future.

I'm glad to know people are liking it. It actually works out quite well for the materials given and the price.

I just clicked your link in your sig for the hell of it and that's fucking cool! I don't care for mushrooms or anything but that's a cool setup you got. I'm a computer geek so that catches my attention

Very nice! I have this unused hard disk dock with lcd display and fan controls, it would be cool to hook up to something like this. I also have lots of extra fans. Maybe if I'm bored someday. Anyway, very cool.

I had a fan controller I was going to put in this, then I thought: "I'm going to have it on full blast all the time anyways." Thus, no fan controller

I'm using similar device but a bit smaller even though ill need to up-size soon. What I find that it does not get them dry completely (then come out still slightly rubbery), I still have to put fruits in a container with desiccant for a day or so before sealing for storage in jars with silica baggies.

Never had that issue... make sure you have them on some kind of screen so air flow gets under them as well & fans from multiple angles all on as high as they can go
