FLOWER WATCH 09!
    #11512491 -

SO at the moment I have 3 possibly 4 cacti flowering.

Quite late if I do say so myself, but I shall not complain!

The list of Cacti in flower are:

Mammillaria Vetula spp. Gracilis cv. "Arizona Snowcap" (1 flower bud)

Copiapoa Hypogaea (2 flower buds)

Turbinicarpus Pseudopectinatus ssp. Rosieflorus (5-6 flower buds)

(Possibly) Ariocarpus Retusus ssp. Furfuraceus f. Monstrose (2 flower buds)

i will update if and when they open (The Mamm. will be open tomorrow for sure and hopefully the copiapoa too)

for now enjoy pictures of the buds

I'm gonna see if I can trick it with some Lily pollen, that's what is recommended for the Pelecyphora Aselliformis which are very similar in appearance.

Why not right

Also the blooms will open up to be 1-2" (~2-5cm) wide apparently, and will be a deep pink.

I'm excited to say the least :yesnod:

I am afraid however, that I'll miss my Copiapoa opening, hopefully it stays open more than a day and will serves as a beautiful welcome home present.

@Deegee: The lighting is crappy today, so I won't be able to now, but I can post older pics :yesnod:

@Ferrel_human: If you haven't checked out my journal yet I have a semi-complete list of all my cacti and succulents, many with pictures.

Lemme know what you think

As far as copiapoa go, they are VERY unique cacti IMO.

Do a google search on copiapoa cinerea

It's my mineral soil mix of:

9 parts crushed lava rock
5 parts natural oil absorbent
3 parts perlite

I water with light ferts every other time I water, to make sure they're getting their vitamins
