Odd, I also just had a san pedro flower about a week ago. The petals are mostly dead and falling off, but its supposed to form a fruit within a few weeks.

let's think back to 6th grade science. what is the role of a fruit in flowering plants?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

What has to happen in order for it to form a fruit. The pollen from the flower on the pedro has to? Can it self-pollinate?

you'll need another pedro (or another trich! a hybrid would be cool) flowering around with a different DNA than your pedros (it can't be a clone).
this is for them to avoid interbreeding and so to have a richer genetical variety, blablabla, blablabla...
cheers,

FH

It is possible for certain plants to self-pollinate, though i'm up in the air as to whether a pedro will do so if it isn't pollinated by another member of the species.

the species trichocereus can be cross pollinated.  i have a peruvian torche, san pedro cross.  its not all that odd looking, except for the fact that it has long spines, and short ones.  i dont know what it will grow up to look like...though it has some size to it now.  its a 20" cutting.  ill post pics of my garden when i get my camera back
