She doesn't live there and he pays all the bills. So it's pretty much his house. Even if it wasn't owned by her it's hard to keep your mom out of places if they want to go there.

put sheets over everything you don't want her to see, but in the middle of the basement, put one of those robotic fucking machines, with a sheet partially draped over it, so you can still immediately see what it is, like you had forgotten to cover it.

she'll take one look, and never invade your privacy again.

btw: don't conduct illegal activity in somebody else's home without their approval. it's bad form.

How big is this room? What are the dimensions?

Depending on the size... You could either move stuff into the room and make it loook like a storage closet or something.

Or you could move all the junk in your basement around the room to try and hide it. Buy some storage shelving and put it up all around the room, and then fill the shelves with the junk in your basement. :shrug:

The only way is installing it yourself. If your mom is anything like mine there is no way you can keep her out of a room she hasn't seen. Saying its an office or something like that will only make her more curious and then she'll be suspicious when you dont let her in.

Find a way to install it yourself, or get a plumber or whatever and have them do it. You can tell those guys to keep out of a room and there wont be any issues.

It is her house, but think of any house or apartment that you rent or lease.
They all have landlords that don't know about your growing.

If I were you9which I was in this situation myself recently) Break down the grow, let her see the basement, let her give you a FREE HEATER THAT WILL SAVE MORE MONEY.  Then start everything back up.

you go behind her back or act suspicious and you're on her radar. You call it quits and cut your losses, you get a heater, she looks at your seemingly normal basement, then she's gone, never to see the dank basement again.

you start growing again.

At this point, suggestions aren't going to work. Even if he executes the best of them, the dice could roll out of his favor. Bottom line is that if they do, he's fucked.

Frankly I think he's a fucking idiot (no flame intended) for not breaking the grow down right now. What if she already has inspectors coming? Your doorbell rings and they're paid in advance to check the unit out.

OP: Get some fucking sense, man. Tear it down. You can always rebuild.
