How can i keep my mom out of my basement 4GOOD?

so i live n a house my ma technically owns - she always visits thats fine - but now she wants really really really bad to get me a new water heater - which means she wants to come in the basement and also have some strangers installing shit!!!!! I suppose i have lots to hide you may imagine - a whole room of plywood that can't be taken down completely too - oooooh im in a horrible mood now - my secrets time may be up

How can i keep her from "insisting" on buying us a waterheater
she claims its free after energystar rebates and will save me 30-40$ a month
( would be a good idea) but im not really ever concerned with saving electricity:wink:
One more thing- she and my dad both are employed at the nearest power company
gosh im not feeling too great:rolleyes:

You mean legally owns. She owns it, you should be thankful she lets you live there rent free at all. Let alone the food she provides. It's her house, she can do what she wants.

my water heater is fucking only like 3yrs old too and works just fine - its elect tho
she works for the elect co. so she's all about this energystar deal:shrug:
she wants to switch to all nat gas  one and save $
I JUST NEED HER OUT OF THE BASEMENT FOR GOOD- Or much will be lost

and this idea of hers will completely ruin many projects and hidden things

This doesn't really pertain to the question - but ido pay all bills and feed my family here while she lives 2.5hrs away - its like i rent it from her
She got the House loan for me as i wasn't working at the time - and i made the down payment - she does technically own it  - i just pay all the bills - and i JUST GOTTA KEEP HER OUT THE BASEMENT

IM LOOKING FOR GOOD IDEAS BROTHERS
PLEASE

ps i don't live with her - she is nosey and really pushing this idea - i just don't want her n my dad or strangers checking shit out in the basement

Mushrooms could be easily transfered to another room and hidden for a few days...

Weed plants.. Not so easy to hide those...

if they go with roof venting via flue, this is a pricey task, like pris said.unfortunately, many people now remove the electric element from their current water heater, essentially using it as a storage tank.a gas heating element is then mounted on an outside wall, where venting is not necassary, then water lines are run to the existing tank.its a third as cheap to use natural gas, and there really arent many cons of it.unless you tell them you have an insane fear and nightmares of gas leaking and exploding.srry

also if hes paying rent and bills, its relaly no different then growing in your landlords place, as far as im concerned

This is the way ive always seen it - out of sight out of mind!! trust me im responsible and just prefer to make my own meds!

My basement is a complete mess - with other obvious reasons i would'nt like to exactly mention -

Fungus and other misc equipment is easy to hide -
a built in room isn't so easy tho

If the room is seen then id say the gigs up - she prob would be as snoopy as ever then??:mad2:

If you have electrical equipment(computer games etc,) move it into said room and call it your office space, if they try to peak just tell them your very private about your space/business.

This, if you can. Make it look like an ordinary room or office until she is done, stick a computer, desk, some chairs and maybe a TV in there until she's done.

I was meaning more like hide your visible office stuff in there, things that are in the basement(along with incriminating things you cant let mother see). Then just keep it off limits too all.
