i was laid off without warning , even though there was no shortage of work. then he agreed to pay me for a day a week, which is allowable and still collect employment insurance. then after a couple weeks i noted to him i had not been paid yet, and he said, "why would you be paid? you are laid off "
yes a lawyer will be involved...

my ex boss pulled some crap with me and got me fired.

he called me and told me not to go to work then told human resources i no called no showed

i had a better job lined up anyways but it caused me to be unemployed for 2 months.

for the past 2 going on 3 years, to this day, i send his cell phone a picture of every single shit i take. i have several entertaining voice mails from him. stupid fuck doesnt know its me, still.

that is what the unemployment system is set up for.

if it was really a "wrongful termination" then he will have to pay for it through taxes in the end anyway.

a lawyer will likely get you nowhere. an employer who does stuff like that is probably experienced in getting away with that kind of thing barely within his "lawful rights".
unfortunately he probably has a "book-keeper" which he pays just to keep track of every loophole in the system to be able to get away with something like this without worrying about his end of the law
