Got the spores today! Last minute questions.

I have received the spores that I ordered. The Little Guy has hella fast shipping. I am going to prep the jars and innoculate them tommorow. I had a little celebration, four shots of J&B Scotch and a few beers. I am excited about starting the process but I still have a few questions. How much light and through what stages, how often should I replace the perlite, and what is a good seperator (to keep the jars from breaking from the heat of the bottom of the pan) for boil-sterilization in a pot?

When you sterilize, start off by bringing to ater to a slow boil if the jars are on the bottom of the pot. If you have Kerr jars, you should be fine.
Keep the jars out of the light while colonizing, and away from direct light during fruiting... a couple hours a day is fine.
The perlite never needs to be replaced until the cakes are done.

First off, I'm gonna say it, and its gonna sound dick, but..... READ THE FAQ
But since this is your first time and you're all happy In reply to:
. How much light and through what stages,
None during colonization, 12 on 12 off during fruiting (this is up to debate, but I'm just giving you a round figure) In reply to:
how often should I replace the perlite
I don't replace it until something gets contaminated or until I fruit a new batch. In reply to:
and what is a good seperator (to keep the jars from breaking from the heat of the bottom of the pan) for boil-sterilization in a pot?
A dish rag works fine.

the mycelium is colonizing the jars, no light is nessecery, while casing, I think a 3/21 hour light scheme is good. A wash cloth on the bottom of the pan works fine, and I don't about the perlite question.
