2nd Flush harvested... Now what?

I harvested the second flush yesterday.
I just evened out the casing after and gave it a heavy misting.
After the first flush, I scarped off 3/4 of the casing and applied a new one. It took 9 days for the next flush to be ready, from harvest to harvest.
Should I dunk? I've heard that it needs to rehydrate... Should I scrape off the old casing and apply a new? Or should I just leave it alone?
Im leaning towards leaving it, but not if it will give me less product.
Any suggestion or input will be appreciated! Thanks

Dunk yes, scrape no. Also, you could pick them a bit earlier and save yourself some spore mess.

Spore mess?
I didn't see any spores or mess, not that I looked too closely...
Did make a print though...

Well, as you get more shrooms, you'll get more spores. You'll see what I mean one day soon.
As for scraping, let me say this: don't. It makes no sense. The mycelium has spent time and energy colonizing, then you just scrape that away. I know a lot of teks say to do it that way, I'm not blaming you. But that's old, outdated info. Scraping slows things down and hurts yields.

Ok. but what about the bases of the shrooms I can't get out and the tiny aborts? Do I just leave them?
That's why I did it... 'cause I thought they would start to rot. Won't they introduce contams if I don't remove it all?
So this time, I'll just mist and leave it, or should i dunk tonight?
Won't the casing float off, so I have to apply a new one anyway?
Thanks for all the help!

I dunk. Mist heavily but carefully- you won't drown the pins, but you can damage them if you spray too hard right up on them.

You don't want to dunk just the casing. That's only the top layer. You want to soak the entire substrate AND casing. Using the faucet with gently running water is the way to do it. The moving water prevents bacterial buildups and actually helps to wash away contaminant spores that may have landed on the project during the previous flush.

i just answered that under a faucet in a sink or tub with water running over it leave the faucet on a tad let the water flow over the surface of the tray for 12-24 hours

^^^ yep. I do an hour or so, but you can sure go longer. Depends in part on what substrate you use, I think.

Alright... I'll leave it for a couple of hours under running water in the sink or whatever.
It's not too late to do it today right?
