this is a normal 4th flush, see attachment, now if this is 4th imagine what a 2nd would look like.

Hey y'all, you are hurting my feelings. I got 12 dry grams off the first flush and 9 dry off the second. Sounds to me like I did pretty well. Those shrooms must be bigger that you think. All the 2nd flush were about 5-7" long. The pic of the 'loaf' was the day before harvest. They grew some more after that. This was just my FIRST attempt. I'll do better in the future. I just thought y'all might like to see some pics......Peace

and you'll get better. but it was a cool pic. I was just saying...if you experiment around you'll be able to produce flushes like this in no time. it all depends on the formula. sometimes a little difference makes all the difference if ya know what I mean.

What ever, that is NOT a fouth flush taz! That pic has been around for years, and I remeber when it was posted, that is NOT a fouth flush. 21 dry grams total, and only an equivelent of 2 half pint used in the casing, and you call this small?? And you can do better with cakes I bet, eh?? yeah right. TrippinRhino had a very typical second flush for only one pint of spawn. You and your cakes couldn't do any better taz.

yeah? well, That pic I posted was for reference. I can do that any day with any cake. can you? And when I first started using the cakes 10 produced 2 dry oz's I now double that easily, but I usally only run 4 or 5 cakes now. I can't eat the shrooms fast enough. and my 1st flushes are always small and they get bigger with ever flush that's because I know how to input water correctly to increase yield. as a matter of fact I don't use water after the first flush due to a recent discovery.

How much was that little radio shack gauge...? Also, why didn't your casing layer colonize more thoroughly? I would investigate this for your next run to increase yield. I say that it didn't colonize because it looks as if the mushrooms are only growing from where the light hit the actual cake part...Perhaps not enough moisture in the casing layer, or not enough time to colonize.... Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Light was the issue. When I started to see myclieum comming to the top I turned the light on 14/10 on/off. The problem was, the loaf had began to pull away slightly from the casing container. I assume that light was seeping down the sides where the myclieum was more established. I should have taken some more casing soil and filled in around the sides. Alas, I am a newbie and didn't realize the problems that this would cause. Since shrooms started growing up from the sides, I was forced to birth the loaf. It will not be a mistake I will make in the future. Take a look at my post from last week. There is a pic of the first flush. You can see how the grew a little funky because they were crowded before birthing. Never the less, they were fun to eat :-) !!! As to your question about the Humidity meter. I got it on sale last week at The Rad Shack for $19.99. Regular price is about $25

Hey Taz....you picture stealing punk. Why don't you come up with some pictures of your own. Since you are such a awesome grower? I know why, because you are a poser.

That is awesome! I am not familiear with the pf Tek. What are those straws for? The ones poked into the middle of the cake. Does the add air to the inner part of the cake?

Nope Rhino those are for water. I would inject about 4 cc of water in the straws everyday. It really helps keep the cakes white.

ok i'm gonna defend this taz guy. he never said that pic was of HIS fourth flush, he just said it was a fourth flush. i'm not agreeing with anything taz says. just clearing the air.
