Thats grossly inaccurate.  'Some' research has said that a glass of wine is good for you a night.  However any alcohol consumption is correlated with large increases in cancer.  The fact is that no one is entirely sure how bad alcohol is for you, but 3-5 drinks a day is 'bad' for you no question


I disagree, but I respect your input... do you have any published medical information, in which you could share, that verifies that an intake of alcohol at the consumption rate of 3-5 drinks per day is factually 'bad' for you?....  I would like to compare my research.

As for the cancer thing:
"Alcohol consumption has been linked with seven different types of cancer: mouth cancer, pharyngeal cancer, oesophageal cancer, laryngeal cancer, breast cancer, bowel cancer and liver cancer.[15] The risk of developing cancer increases even with a moderate consumption of as little as 3 units of alcohol (one pint of lager or a large glass of wine) a day.[15] Heavy drinkers are more likely to develop liver cancer due to cirrhosis of the liver.[15]

A global study found that 3.6% of all cancer cases worldwide are caused by alcohol drinking, resulting in 3.5% of all global cancer deaths.[14] A U.K. study found that alcohol causes about 6% of cancer deaths in the U.K., killing over 9,000 people a year.[15]

Women who regularly consume low to moderate amounts of alcohol have an increased risk of cancers of the upper digestive tract, rectum, liver, and breast.[24][25] For both men and women, consuming two or more drinks daily increases the risk of pancreatic cancer by 22%.[26]
Red wine contains resveratrol, which has some anti-cancer effects in laboratory cells, however, based on studies done so far, there is no strong evidence that red wine could protect against cancer in humans.[27]"

I'm an alcoholic only because I can't afford weed anymore I spent all my money on it. Also I lost my hookup for roxicodone so this is my last bet. I have to get inebriated in some way and alcohol is just the easiest option I don't enjoy the high nearly as much as I do with other drugs. I feel like alcohol makes me stupid it doesn't provoke thought the same way weed does. But whatever thats how I have to live :cheers:

While this information may be accurate, it lacks some things... There is no publishing records, Dates, copyright info or names of Doctors, Clinics, Universities etc.  'A UK Study' is a little vague.

I'm not trying to put you down or anything, but I think people are way too easily persuaded into buying into the cancer pandemonium.

I wont discredit you for saying alcohol is potentially bad for you... Ethyl Alcohol is Dangerous when consumed heavily for prolonged durations, but I am skeptical that 1 to 3 or even as high as 3-5 drinks per day is a major component that has direct correlation in the increase of cancer risks... the term "linked to", "studies suggest" may be useful in plausibility demonstrations in many cases, perhaps even this one, but it is not 'Factual'.

Really, there is no guarantee yet that it is either good or bad for you in low quantities because there is no abundant supporting data that indicates either.... so perhaps we could leave it at that? :smile:

Last march when i was taking LSD every weekend i rarely drank.  I never felt the need too:shrug:

dude I drink a lot, like most everyday all day. i've lost jobs, gone to jail, lost my license cause of alcohol. I dont consider myself an alcoholic. I just really like it and my abuse of alcohol sometimes causes problems for me. Lately i have taken control of the problem part but i still drink.

deep down i know drinking everyday isn't healthy and i really plan to quit substantially, just not yet. Don't fall for the myth that only AA can help "alcoholics".

On the other hand i do believe some people need alcohol physically because while they don't abuse alcohol like us they almost steadly supplement alcohol into their system over a long (20+ years of time).

alot of times I puke and go on hiatus.

REMEMBER TO CONTROL THE ALCOHOL NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Everyone needs to start talking in standard drinks so this topic makes more sense.

I go through periods of drinking 3-4 standards a night, I don't think that's particularly bad.

If you're drinking 5+ you're pushing it, ~10 (1/2 a bottle), you have a problem.

I've cut down greatly lately.

I used to consider myself an alcoholic, until recently. Now it's only maybe 3 days out of the week.

There were years where I didn't miss a single day.

I don't smoke weed anymore except maybe once or twice a year, alcohol is the main (maybe the only) thing that I do regularly.

hi...my name is scott and im an alcoholic
and it fuckin sux sometimes.
drank away years of my life in a certain respect.  good times where had during, but holy shit some bad times. 
i dont drink to blackout as much these days...but its still bad just the same in that, when i dont have alcohol in my system....im truly miserable.  and my body takes such a toll with withdrawl.  fukin sux.

i noticed i might have a problem a few days ago, when i went to work after 5 shots of sailor jerrys and a couple PBR's

A fifth is the 750ml, ~20 standard drink bottles of liquor? Correct? We're metric in Aus :sun:

What's an 18er?

If you're drinking a whole bottle every night, THATS doing some decent physical damage, no matter the tolerance or size.

yea but by high gravity do you mean malt liquor...i usually dust a run of the mill 18 pack of beer.

I dont dust a fifth every night but 4 of 7 days i do...the other three i'll either chill on a 12er or 18er those are my habits...not alwys consistent and when other drugs are involved they vary.
