Less than a year ago, in my area a <racial slur removed> left her two kids locked in the apartment (she had removed the regular dead bolt from her apartment door and replaced it with one of those double-sided dead bolts, so you have to have the key to lock/unlock it) with candles burning.  She left the apartment to fuck some other <racial slur removed> across the parking lot.

Of course, the apartment caught fire, one of the kids died (the younger one, 2 year old girl I think) and the 6 year old boy survived (horribly disfigured).
