Fruiting WBS * 1

Hi guys, i have been reading in Shroomery regarding fruiting straight WBS. Some mentioned that its difficult to fruit, but most mentioned that it can be done, but small fruits are the usual yield.
I for one tried fruiting from straight WBS with casing twice... first time, i chuck the whole casing away after it didnt fruit about 2 weeks. The second one i threw it away after suspected trich formed on the casing (have not turn green yet, but i recognized the nasty bulky white dots which i sometimes mistake for hyphal knots)
But again, im pretty new in this... probably my carelessness, but i would like ask if any have tried it successfully.

PS: i read about coir and do have coir... i will be trying it soon, but currently i would like to know more about WBS as substrate cased with dried peat moss..

spawn it to black kow manure from home depot. 5 bucks for 40lbs.

Well go ahead and forget about casing straight grains. If you have coir, this should not even be an option.

Fruiting WBS works great for some people, but not for everybody. Spawning to coir works well too.
If you use peat, you'll want to balance the pH with lime, is my understanding. Or buy it pre-mixed, as Jiffy Mix Seed Starter.

Mix the WBS with the same volume of well hydrated verm, when 100%, case with more verm. I do this on the regs when i dont want to waste my bulk sub.

Texans in a jar.

These guys were grown in the jar with only WBS. No casing.

Took twice as long as the trays which were spawned to coir/coffee/gypsum and cased with peat/verm/gypsum.

Thks for the advice guys, i did get across a couple of teks involving spawning to coir & other stuff. Btw, sup Doc.. i think it was a tek by you?? WBS tek or something, where it was mentioned its good for spawning to coir, but also possible(even though small) to fruit WBS directly. Thats wat got me to tried it out, just as an experiment.

Guess its not gonna work out for me for the time being till i get more xp.. by thks all ^^

Supposed to chuck out the substrate, i used rotten BRF and half the jar didnt colonized properly, thought that i tried fruiting from a jar (an idea from one of the members from shroomery ^^) got about 5 dried grams in the end... shouldnt have chuck out other 4 jars :frown:
