Is this cake going to fruit?
    #25028787 - 02/28/18 03:31 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

It's whole oats and a top layer of substrate. How can I see to it that this cake fruits properly?

Mist when it's dry and make sure it get plenty of fresh air.

Pic of whole chamber?

Also because you put "substrate" on top and not just straight verm it's probably going to colonize that part before it fruits.

Should I crumble it up into a tray with some substrate?
Should I just leave it how it is?

Just leave it for science brother and start some new projects while you play the waiting game.

I'd put that thing back in the jar where it came from and cover it with a ziplock bag. Top-fruiting is called, no chamber needed. Mist as needed, bottom-water when it starts to pin.

As it is, that's gonna dry out pretty fast 'n furious with those exposed grains in a SGFC.
It won't be much use to mist a lot here, the colonized grains won't absorb the water well enough and the exposed cake doesn't have a pinning platform anywhere but on top, meaning it's highly unlikely it will fruit at all from the sides from that bacterial solid block, so it's just getting exposed and drying the fuck out for no reason, which equals shit results at best or none at all.

Top fruit that shit and get results.  :twocents:

Don't crumble it. Those grains are bacterial. You'd be better off leaving the colony intact and top-fruting, which will probably get you some fruits. Crumbling it would weaken it even more.

How can you tell it's bacterial?
