Maybe licorice. . .defenetly not like star anise, its a very faint scent.
Issun says they smell like a scented hair product to him o_O

Yes, those are oyster mushrooms.  You should eat them now, before the bugs do.  What general part of Texas are you in?  I thought it was kind of early, but I may have to start checking my oyster spots!

I'd eat it

Do it quick though, or dry it.  Looks to be a pretty "mature" specimen.

Well, I did the print on a napkin so it kinda turned more into a stain but it defenetly was yellow with some darker golden parts. I figure the difference in color in the spore "stain" was cause the napkin also absorbed some mosture that made some parts look lighter.

I can print it again on regular paper and come back with the results before eating it.

The color on the napkin could have come from a lot of different things mixed into the moisture. You can't use "stains" as a proper measure of spore color.

Oyster mushrooms will have a white print that has a hint of pink or lavender to it.

I've printed mushrooms with white spores that left yellow or brown stains on the paper. The color itself is probably metabolic waste from the mushroom itself or a result of decomposition.

Nex time try printing them on black construction paper or foil.

I would slice them in half and see of you see little holes in the meat of the mushroom..

if you do, probably infested with larvae..

if not, enjoy... however, those look a bit old.

LOL

I made it into quesadillas yesterday!

No bugs, thankfully.

It was a bit dry, i'm used to mushrooms having a lot of moisture but I've never had oyster mushrooms before.

They were good like bready, i like

did you happen to fry them up before you put them in your quesadilla?
cause if u put them raw into your quesadilla I doubt they got cooked fully, if at all.

im pretty sure it was either stamets or arora who ate every common edible raw, and the only one that made them sick was oysters.

you should always make it a practice to cook your mushrooms fairly well.

Almost any mushroom can be hard on your digestive system when raw. Chitin isn't very digestable.

Found a bunch of lactarius torminosus the other day, they look and smell good but supposedly indigestible, but you can pickle um. Dont know if i wanna do that :/.

Oh, and how did you make quesadillas? What else was in it?
