Another way (shape,size,area) to do the pf tek ?

I like the idea of jars but is there another way (example the flat cake tek) to grow mushrooms pf style.If i did the flat cake tek what are some advantages & disadvantage one might run in to.are there any other effective ways?

Big bags of brf wouldn't be great, they'd take too long to colonize. I guess you could inoculate with a shitload of spore solution, but it just seems like a waste.

im in the brf bags up to my knees! seriously they colonize very quickly.. especially when you have lots of mycelium water instead of spores, but 3cc of spores per bag has worked for me before. I find it colonizes in about the same time as a pint jar... the fact that you can mash the mycelium and spread it through the entire bag is why it colonizes so fast.

Ahhh, I see.  Well I guess I was wrong about bags of BRF being a bad idea, but I'd still prefer to do quarts of grain, just my preference.    :smile:

Uh this week I tried something that works pretty good.
I got some straw and pasturized it.
Then spawned with numerous amounts of different things.
Then the cool part BLACK PLASCTIC DROPCLOTH I just wrapped that shit up with tape and poked holes in it.
It's working good so far and doesn't need any outside heat.
