Amanita ID, NE Michigan
    #11136509 -

found a bunch of Amanita like this while riding dirt bikes in northern MI this weekend. Most seemed past their prime but I did grab a couple.
Is this Amanita muscaria var. formosa / guessowii?

Habitat:
under some birch in thick woods in the north east part of the LP of Michigan. Also mixed pines around.

Gills:
white/cream

Stem:
about 6" long, diameter: about 1/2", cream,  thin/thick, etc.

Cap:
Diameter: 4-5", color: yellow to orange in center

Bruising: none

Take a spore print.

Don't amanitas tend to be red more then orange/yellow? The one pictured looks like it has def. past it's prime if it is indeed an amanitas.

Am I way off here but I am sure it's Amanita? If not I may just give up this new hobbie.
Def white spores, all the white gills were still in good shape and firm.
no bugs or rotting yet. It was raining a lot the day I found it.

Thanks guys.
The part that was throwing me off is not seeing the concentric rings at the base, Does the amerimuscaria have these?
