i think it has alot to do with the temple mount and who would have control of it.
the first temples were built there
now the muslims have a shrine there(dome of the rock)
supposivly the stone that abraham was to sacrifice isaac on is located there.
it is a holy sight to both muslim and jew.

Every time the Jews make minor concessions and give land away they get attacked from those lands.  Sure, historically they have each been aggressors.  But in recent history the aggressors have been the Palestinians.

Remember - The official position of the Israeli government is to work towards a two state solution.  The official position of the Palestinian government is to work towards a one state solution.

The biblical 'Land of Israel' is a concept. It's existence is based on a psuedo-historical book; a pretty shitty read may I add.

The current state of Israel is based upon the parameters of the United Nations.


Your argument can be analogous to the U.S.'s existence.


So, what? Should we give the United States back to the Native Americans?

Its not just written in the bible,
its interwoven into the history of Egypt, Assyria, Persia, Tyre, Phoenicia, and Philistine.
and I'm not saying the creation of Israel was the correct path,
but it happened,
and the Palestinians should suck it the fuck up,
because i don't think Israel would be the nation with the highest HDI in the region
if it were being governed by Palestinians.

The Jews haven't owned the territorial region of Israel for 95% of our modern history (CE) up until the creation of the current Jewish state of Israel. The last true ownership resided in the hands of the Palestinians.

And why should the Palestinians suck it up? They didn't even initially agree to the creation of Israel! No Palestinian agreed to having their land taken away! Some Jews don't even consider Israel to be real! (The Messiah is supposed to show them the Holy Land; not the UN)


Israel is just a product of politics; nothing more. The Jews got their ass whooped all throughout history. So we should give them a country because we feel sorry for them and have religious and political stakes in the formation of such a country?

Yeah, then the U.S. moves on to Mecca, where they build Mecca mountain and it's always competing with The Abraham's Sacrifice in Palsreal. This will set up a friendly rivalry until one country builds a rollercoaster in space and accidentally kills all of the passengers from g forces. They burn up and there is a big war over whose fault it was.

The problem is "god".  People who fight for religious reasons aren't required to listen to reason or any sort of moral code except for the one that they've interpreted to fit their needs from the various religious texts.

This was then followed by every major Arab nation attempting to wrestle control of the region out of Israeli hands, which as we all know failed miserably (as did all followup attempts)

To me its creation seems just as legitimate as that of the US

I really don't think we should argue about the semantics of this. We obviously don't hold the same views.

The British Mandate of Palestine is worthless in my eyes. Why? Because I personally believe it's a violation of civil rights. Just because some fucks can rape the Ottoman Empire does not give them the right to exploit their fallen foe.

And I guess that's where our views differ because I don't see any legitimacy in the existence of the United States of America, either.

I think we probably agree more than you'd think, I tend to play devils advocate for the sake of making people see it from the perspective of nations rather than people. Of course its a fucked up situation in either Israel or the United States but hey that's 'legitimacy' and 'fair' in international affairs. :shrug:
