magic mushrooms and flavor.

i was just thinking about the cooking of magic mushrooms and one of the things that went across my mind was flavoring.
so i though. "i wonder if mycellium would absorb flavor"
so i was thinking of putting flavor extracts to the substrate.
what do you guys think? should i give it a go? has anyone already tried this? if so can you tell me the results?

i am definitely going for it.
i was thinking of having them strawberry chocolate flavor.
my fear of it is that it wont work or that it will work but it will taste like shit like it usually does.

its been done....didnt work.  1 person had very minimal success with mint extract but not worth the extra work.

Ive used blue yellow orange food coloring (red doesnt work it turns brown) after I dried them then dried again for the 4th of July festivities.:thumbup:

ok how exactly would you do this?  before asking people what they think about it, please explain how exactly you plan on extracting flavour from what? and how would you extract them ? oh and heres another one how would you make the mycelium wanna eat sphagetti meat balls?

dude if you wanna cook it with a bunch of shit go for it, but if your myclium grows on wbs, do your shrooms tastes like wbs?, or popcorn or rye or fuck whatever.

if you wanna it to taste like anything else cook it when its grown, i doubt youll grow it tasting like ketchup chips no matter how much you try.

It's been tried hundreds of thousands of times.  When they grow on straw, they don't taste like straw, when they grow on coir they don't taste like coir, when they grow on brf they don't taste like rice, etc., etc.  We've also had people put all sorts or crazy stuff like peppermint in the substrate, all to no avail.  Mycelium doesn't have a vascular system like plants and humans, so the substrate is metabolized.

My buddy that got me into growing did.  He tried growing on all kinds of different stuff to make the flavor better.  He also tried extracts.  They didnt do a thing, the mushies tasted exactly the same.

hold on now lol i have sprayed my fruits down with a small sprayer and some of that artificial sugar water shit and a bit of the extract of my choice strawberry , mint etc.

it doesn't work if you do it while its growing just raises possibility of contams .

what you do is take and mix you up some water, mint extract , and liquid artificial sugar in a bowl or sprayer and b4 you dry them you either spray them down for light flavor or let them marinate in bowl for max flavor than stick them in dehydrator.

works for me  :shrug:

aren't flavor extracts mostly alcohol with oils of the plant in it. id think the alcohol would hurt the mycelium right.

they are like 21 percent alc. i dont see any prob tastes a lil better and no potency loss .

i mostly dip them in swweetend mint extract mix than dry them and put them in chocolate candies mmmmm nom nom nom lol . they taste like choc mints

only if its still growing, once picked it doesnt matter.
