They'll smell like mushrooms. Don't worry though, its not that noticable.

Also, before they come up and all you have is a casing layer, it pretty much smells like whatever the casing layer smells like. Of course it depends on the size of the room they are grown in but you probably won't even smell anything unless you bend over and take a whiff.

Considering that you grow them in some sort of a container, smell is not a factor. My growing room is actually the best scented room in the house because of the lysol I spray to fight off unwanted contams.

I was growing in a one room set up until just recently. And though the heavenly smell of shrooms wafted from the inconspicuous box in the corner, none of my friends who stopped over suspected anything but dirty cloths. Ironic that the same smell can conjure two completely different ideas when one perspective is unexperianced. :wink:

ILA shroom wizards tek is horrible seriously i suggested you read the mushroom cultivator i am just a regular joe and reading stamets' book made it possible for me to cultivate mushrooms like a pro, sounds like a infomercial! also the mycelium is not a mold although shroom wizard discribed it as one. 90 precent of the mushrooms i cultivate are on pasturized wheat straw inoculated from rye grain. i use this method because it can be used to grow copelandia cyanescens as well as psilocybe cubensis. anyway, maybe i could just scan each page of the mushroom cultivator and transfer it into some sort of internet text it is a must read.

Yes. Depends on how bad your rooms smells if the mushrooms will mind what they smell or not!....heheheh

BTW, they also smell when grown outdoors, in labrotories or gardens. They just smell different things in different locations just as a person would...

A piece of good advice. If anybody tells you to try anything besides straight PF tek or magic mushroom grower's guide for your first time, thank them and then ignore them. They have forgotten what it is like to be a beginner and are offering you advice that will likely lead to a fuck-up your first time. To start, KISS, keep it simple stupid.

Mycofile, i know you are a knowledgeable guy (gal?) what i was saying is to read the mushroom cultivator and put the information to use in conjunction with the PF/MMGG for instance a lot of beginers can not get there cakes to fruit. by reading the mushroom cultivator you gain a great understanding of the evironmental facotrs necessary for sucessful cropping. that information can be used directly in conjunction with the PF/MMGG. PEACE

If your cake is 100% colonized. You put it in a terrarium with a spray shield. Put wet perlite on bottom and spray once a day with it totally sealed.Fanning 2-3 times a day. You would have to be a complete moron to not get fruits. That is for the beginner.Thats my PF and MMGG simplified.
